And if he got the ball on a break with the defense not set, he was either going to get a layup, or get fouled. Harper was freaking good. He was a disruptive defensive player too.

He will definitely have to sit out and I imagine he's being forced/encouraged to explore opportunities.

But if and when he doesn't get drafted, he can still return to Auburn, correct?

Not if he signs with an agent like he’s apparently planning on.

He was the perfect PG for Pearl. He could penetrate with his speed and collapse the defense and kick to wide open shooter or get to basket and score.

He embarrassed all our guards. None of them could come close to staying in front of him. Kira has pretty good speed, but he isnt in the same zip code with Harper. The others should not have even been on the court with him.

He got hurt. I actually heard he looked really good in practice leading up to last season.

He could have had some potential, and may show it elsewhere, but unless he's just a flat out stud he was going to have a hard time finding minutes. If Bolden is here, Wood probably would have been the 6th guard. Kira, Bolden, Petty, Shackleford, and Forbes would all most likely be ahead of him. That is if Shackleford and Forbes are what we think they'll be. Even if we went small and put Petty at the 3, then you still have four guards to play two positions.

I say this, then Diante Wood will show up a couple of years down the road and he'll be killing it at a mid-major. Then we'll be like "Damn, I wish we hadn't of forced him out, this kid is legit."

Under the new rules, a player can still return even after signing with an agent LINK

While there is a chance, it does not appear likely that Harper will return.

Thank God Harper is leaving. I thought be was the MVP of college bball this year.

Crazy that neither Bryce Brown nor Jared Harper made 1st team All SEC

I'm sure it's already been posted earlier in the thread, but I was so pissed at Avery Johnson last night while watching Braxton Key. He was clutch for UVA in the national championship game thanks to some solid coaching. Happy for Braxton, of course, but it just further solidified that firing Avery was the right move.

Braxton is the same player there that he was here lol.

I mean technically yes. But there is no denying the effort and energy difference.

He is the same role player, he just turns it over way, way less and acts like he wants to actually be playing basketball

Buffalo fans are still super pissed Oats left them. They are not letting up. Seems as though they cannot get over the fact he left for a football only school. I saw one Buffalo fan say that had he stayed he would have turned them into Gonzaga...that he’s that good.

I guess they see it as if Chris Petersen left Boise back in the day for Kentucky. I hope they are right about him being the real deal...we might have just gotten a big time coach...

I searched his name on twitter and I’ve seen different fans of schools like UCLA, Cincinnati, etc saying they wish they could’ve landed Coach Oats. I knew he was a great coach, but I didn’t realize just how much he was coveted by other fanbases

Except there's a huge difference in a teams ability to compete between the two sports. 85 vs 13 is night and day. And teams with small players can compete against teams with NBA size. Playing style can overcome a talent deficit much easier in basketball.

Kentucky would have to land a proven blue chip coach, because their instate talent will never win them anything. Basketball is much easier to be competitive.

Buffalo fans are just working their way through the various stages of grief.

If Oats is that good, we won’t be a football only school for much longer.

So this is what we’re looking at..
13 spots..

1. Kira Lewis
2. John Petty
3. Tevin Mack
4. Juwan Gary
5. Jaylen Forbes
6. Jaden Shackelford
7. Raymond Hawkins
8. Alex Reese
9. Herbert Jones
10. Javian Fleming
11. Galin Smith
12.
13.

That leaves 2 open spots. I know Trendon Watford will be in one of them. That makes..

12. Trendon Watford

BamaFan is confident about James Bolden, so..

13. James Bolden

I love the roster for the most part, but I still want Galin’s sorry arse out of here. Maybe we can find someone to replace him.

Just noticed that WV played Buffalo the first game of the season and Bolden scored 21 points in 23 minutes for WV.

Oats must have liked what he saw and Bolden must have liked what he saw out of Buffalos style of play.

Was looking at a site that ranks the top 100 JUCO prospects available, and didn't realize these guys were that high on the list.

8. Andre Allen 6'9 Arizona Western F Buffalo

25. James Rojas 6'7 Hutchinson PF Buffalo

You never know exactly how JUCO guys will pan out, but there are a lot of them that end up being good contributors for P5 teams. If these guys want to follow Coach Oats and come here, then I'd be all for it. They could be the two that could take Galin & Javain's spots if he doesn't feel like they fit his style of play. Would probably be a good trade-off.

Seriously please just stop with this. You’re constantly throwing dudes under the bus. I’m sure you’d call him a “sorry” basketball player to his face. Guy has done nothing but give max effort when he’s in the game. Chill out.

I agree. I want him to get guys that fit his system as soon as possible
