He was horrible tonight. We finished the game 1-11 shooting at the end and they made 5-5 including some 3-pointers.

They are only getting 1 win Max. Their 2nd game would be against South Carolina....they ain’t winning that one

Reese is 15/63 (23.8%) from 3PT since February 1st.
He's 3/20 (15%) the last 3 games.

You know that not everything said in this thread is meant seriously or literally yeah? Our fanbase's ability to hype up practically any player is second to none, and SoG was talking about filling out the roster with some random shitty JuCo transfers who would at least play hard.

Reese has done this every year. He starts out hot and then gets lazy and plays like shite. Remember his 1st 2 years there was games late in the season where Avery didn’t even play him.

Reese reminds me of Shannon Hale, but less athletic
Both just load up and down the court, zero urgency

Am I the only one that has noticed that multiple times a game he lets a guy go right by him for a layup and DOESNT EVEN MOVE OR TRY!!!

I want.......
Petty
Herb
Shack
JQ
Rojas
Gary
Back next season. Oats can do whatever the hell he wants with the other 7 spots.

Especially Petty. He would be a huge bonus.

Reese is still averaging more points and rebounds per game than Davis and Smith combined. Not that I like Reese, but he is probably our best big, which says a lot about how shitty our bigs are.

Reading all this is actually pretty funny.
We never had a chance in this game
After the tornado disaster in Nashville
God himself was with Vanderbilt. We were "the other" team in a feel good story.

That makes more sense than any other that could explain how Saben Lee who is a 29% three point shooter on the year to shoot 87% from three vs us lol.

Nah dude, he sucks and is lazy. At least Galin and Javian play hard. I’ve been one of Reese biggest defenders since he has been here( go back and look) but the dude is lazy and it’s time for him to go to some Mid Major

That's the frustrating part is Reese has talent. Not sure if it's his hip or laziness why he seems so shitty on defense lately.
I don't hate Davis, just really frustrated that he is so inconsistent. Maybe he can be good in the future. He tries too hard to be perfect and if he makes a bad play early he is going to suck all game. It's like clockwork.

This is what Oats said after the first signing period.
quote:
“We only have one senior, so essentially there’s one scholarship,” Oats said. “We all know in today’s game, there’s going to be more than that. We’re not done recruiting in 2020. Really happy with Keon. We put a lot of emphasis on him. There’s a few more Canadians that Keon knows well, and with recruiting now, some guys team up on a team. We’re going to go after some more guys in 2020.”
“Ideally, we get an athletic big to kind of complement what we’ve got, and then ideally, we get another combo guard/point guard, maybe,” Oats said. “We anticipate that Kira may be good enough to go to the draft after the year, or even if not, the way we play, as spread out as we are, we can play four guards. We’re playing four guards right now. … So, if we can get another guard that can pass, dribble and shoot, do all three at a high level, that would be ideal, because the way we play, we need skill players. So, that’s what we’re going to be looking for.
“With the way it is now, some of your best players that you may get for next year may not be in the high school ranks,” Oats said. “They may be a kid that’s playing somewhere else, puts his name in the portal, grad transfers, the coach gets fired, whatever it is. You look across the board, the Preseason Player of the Year in the SEC is a kid that grad transferred. So, that’s definitely out there. It’s hard to predict that stuff this early.
“We’re fine. We’ve got one senior, signed one to replace him. As we figure this year out, who’s maybe going to leave, can Kira go, all that, we’ll figure that out. Grad transfers, JUCO -- we were really successful in junior college kids at Buffalo. We’ve got our eye on some of them. Transfer, JUCO kids late, we’re going to be all over it.

As Oats alluded to tonight in the post game, the best way to teach a player a lesson about effort or just teach them what's acceptable or what isn't in general, is to sit them on the bench when they mess up, and we have no one on the bench we can put in to replace them right now. We badly need depth.

guards
G
kira
shack
beetle
forbes
F/C
herb
smith
reese
davis
That's pretty much all we had tonight, 4 guards to play 3 guard positions and 4 F/C when really ideally we would only play with one. Not a very appealing lineup for our style.
Counting Herb as a F/C since he can't really dribble or shoot right now.
If no one transferred and petty stays this would be our roster next year
G
for positions 1-3
Quinerly
Petty
Shack
Forbes
F/C
for positions 4 and 5
Herb
Rojas
Ambrose
Gary
Davis
Reese
Smith
Hawkins
So we'd have 4 total guys to play positions 1-3 and 8 total guys to play positions 4 and 5.
Really out of whack roster, we need the opposite, we need 8 guards and 4 or 5 F/C types.
Herb is versatile enough to put in either column really, he could play the 3 or 4.
The point still stands, we have too many bigs and not enough guards. We need at least 3 more guards plus need add a more athletic big that fits this system.
At least 2 players are gonna be forced out, 3 or 4 ideally.

Sad thing that here at the end, we are no better off than if we kept Avery for this season.
Not counting out future years though
