@mikerodak
quote:
Oats on Coleman Coliseum renovation: “When they hired me, they told me it was coming. Look, I’m not one of those guys that’s in Greg’s office demanding all type of stuff — that’s just not who I am. He’s told me, though, they’re meeting with ...... I don’t even know how the process works here. We went through some building stuff in Buffalo and it’s a lot of red tape up there in New York. Hopefully they can get stuff done a lot faster down here. But they’re talking to me, telling me they’re working on it.”
quote:
Oats said the wrap-around courtside student section was impressive at Auburn. “That’s how we want to get it, where it’s tighter, more compact. Students are on top of the action,” Oats said. “Keep talking about it and hopefully all the right people that got all the money hear.”
Not gonna lie, that gives off the vibe of "I was told this was coming and I feel a little bit hoodwinked".

The clash of styles with Alabama and Texas A&M is obvious ahead of their game: Aggies have scored more than 75 points just twice this season but have only allowed five opponents to reach that mark. Tide have scored more than 75 points in 21 of their 25 games.

If that is from the radio interview that I heard not long ago, he didn’t sound as frustrated as the words seem to look on paper imho.

It is and that's great to hear

If he leaves because we failed to give him the renovations that were promised in a timely manner, I don't think the athletic department will ever get another cent from me.

I don't like that he knows he was given assurances bit feels hung out to dry, even if it's just a little.
We should be giving Oats a new stadium and we aren't... I don't know why a hard renovation is too much to ask.

I knew as soon as Coleman was relegated to "Phase 2" status that they would start dragging their feet as soon as the BDS renovation money was secured and that project was underway. Unfortunately the threat of losing my modest annual donation means frick all to our athletics department.

No more tickets to football or basketball games, no more hats, shirts, nothing. I'll be 100% done.

Yep. That looks a lot worse written down than how it was actually said during the interview.

Y'all don't make up things to melt about today. Nobody told Oats the renovations were coming sooner than they are. He knew the deal and it's still happening as he was told. In that interview he basically said, "Yeah, they said they were going to do it. They say they're working on it. Hopefully it won't take as long to get through all the red tape in Alabama as it would have in New York." He wasn't frustrated, just hopeful like the rest of us that it will get done as soon as possible. I know everyone here would rather have the basketball arena done before the football updates, but that's apparently not the best way to do it financially.

LINK
That's the link to referenced interview. The Coleman talk starts at the 8:39 mark.
The Roundtable guys were pretty much trying to push him to make comments about the deficiencies of Coleman and Oats seemed to be having fun with it but he did agree with some of what they said. Didn't seem frustrated.
If he can win here and keep packing Coleman I think that will push things up.

What's ya'lls confidence level for tonights game 1-10?
TAMU is different than most teams we play, they play slow, post up a lot, allow only about 64 points a game, lead the league in steals.
Like Tennessee, they aren't a great matchup for us. 8.5 out of 10 on the confidence level, I am confident we win but don't think it'll be an easy game. We're gonna have to play tough.

To win? 10/10
To win comfortably? 5/10

Best defense we've played since Tennessee and probably the most physical team we've played since them. Gonna be important for our bigs to not get in foul trouble early like they did vs Tenn.
Not turning it over a ton will be important too, can't give them a lot of easy points.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but maybe Herb is actually right handed and just doesn't know? Can we get a coach to check and be sure?
