Nate has to recruit better players and stop having to depend on transfers for a fix. I believe he can coach at a high level but can he recruit better players to Bama? We'll see.

It sucks to say but some of this is super inflated from earlier in the year. We are still a solid perimeter team but in the last four games we have given up at least 30% every time from deep.

I thought before last night that we generally play better against teams with pace because it doesn't expose our inside as much but can't say that after last night. We actually out worked them on the boards. We got burned on so many fast breaks from just being lazy getting back.

Just stay that way for one more game Rockiee. Bama will run you outta the gym if you don’t get back.

No promises, Musselman was pretty pissed in the presser. I'm sure they are working on alot. He might make the team walk back home on Saturday if they don't show better energy.

He’s been our coach for 10 months. Can we not act like there’s some trend of “dependence” on transfers? He took over in April of last year. Of course he went after transfers. That was our best and really only option at that point.

FWIW it’s really hard to tell if a guy can recruit until his 2nd real class, meaning 2021 for Oats. Unless you’re a blue blood (Duke, UK, etc.) or throwing a ton of money at players (LSU, Memphis, etc.), you have to have 1-2 years under the belt to develop relationships in recruiting.

What are you talking about? A lot of the best teams in the country are using transfers. Even here in the SEC Kentucky has two that are getting major minutes, Blackshear at Florida is a transfer, transfers are a huge part of college basketball and will help Nate get this turned around faster than he would otherwise.

If Kira leaves I think there’s a great chance we get a transfer guard who is eligible to play next year.

I know Forbes is playing out of necessity and that’s a shame because he really needed a red shirt year, he is not ready.

Yea, we need immediate help on the inside. I don’t give a damn where it comes from. A transfer would, more than likely, be a quicker fix, and I’m fine with that.

I'm working on my friend, Donto Hull, to get him to transfer. He's currently playing at a small school nobody has ever heard of. Lengthy, athletic rim defender that would excel in this system. Looks older than he is. Three years of eligibility left.

Jaylen Forbes has gotta start hitting open Shots. He was recruited for his sharp shooting bout time he starts making a few.

It can take time for shooters to acclimate to the college stage. We’ve seen it time and time again with good high school shooters.

I’m sure he’s a good shooter, he just needs to become comfortable and have confidence. It may take more time than others.

Retaining Pettway will hopefully help the transition of CNO relationship building in the area.

My fervent hope is Petty is not going start regressing. He hasn't scored much the last couple of games or shot well. And now Oats is mad at him.
He needs to get back on track Saturday or we won't make the tourney for sure if his bad form continues.

I agree 2Bits.
Gotta have an effective, sharp shooting Petty or we'll be fighting for another NIT berth.

Alabama coach @nate_oats said after Friday’s practice that guard Beetle Bolden was held out and would be a game-time decision tomorrow. “We’re banged up and just trying to make it from game to game,” Oats said.

Also from @AlabamaMBB coach Nate Oats: “All that blue-collar mentality, hard-hat stuff we talk about — if we don’t go out and do it in the game, it’s just fake. And I told our guys I don’t want to be associated with a fake team.”

Nate Oats on John Petty, who did not start against LSU: "The effort in the game against LSU, he told me, 'I'm not going to let it happen again.' So, I think John's ready to go again. I think we'll see a really good John Petty tomorrow."
