Not sure. I was sitting directly behind a camera woman and she recorded the whole time, so idk what it was for

He’s got an extremely quick release too. I don’t see him having any problem being able to get 3s
He can take all the YOLO shots he wants if he makes a bunch of them.

How did Smithand Davis look down low?
There’s a belief on this board that our defense and rebounding take a hit when Alex Reese is on the floor instead of G. Smith. That’s just not the case. They both suck at both of those things, but at least Reese spreads the floor and has a pulse on offense.

Did Auburn lose to Troy today? That’s the rumor...

I believe I saw where we took 44 shots from behind the arc today. Man, are you kidding me? A big, strong front court will cause us problems this year for sure. I think our style will shock some people in conference early and cause some problems for them. Now if we can just win Q’s appeal.
Posted on 10/27/19 at 7:45 pm to phil4bama
Oats said today he’s confident they’ll win the appeal and he could be back as early as Friday......idk how he knows all that but he seems pretty confident about it. Was even talking about JQ being in future lineups this year

Apparently
Pretty sure their SEC Title team lost to D2 Berry, so probably not much to take from that.

This is true, but the reverse is as well. We should give most strong front court teams problems as well by having faster players in a fast-paced offense. Finally we’ll be able to use the speed of our players on offense.

Yea, there aren't many big strong front courts in college basketball anymore anyway.
When they do happen they are pretty unique (A&M a couple years ago as an example).

Had someone tell me Auburn actually won tho so we’ll see. Doesn’t really matter either way I guess

More outside shots means longer rebounds. Guards will have opportunities to make up for small front court by grabbing them. CNO talked about it today at presser

1 key stat other than 3 pointers made was team rebounds.
Bama 44
Georgia Tech 32
Love the effort on the boards.

In terms of offense. Lots of good defensive bigs are still around, but good low post scorers are few and far between at the college level these days. There aren't even a ton left in the NBA.

I still don’t know how Jaden Shackleford wasn’t higher ranked. I think we all saw it as soon as we saw his highlight tape. Was it because of height? Athleticism? I will give Avery credit this kid is a stud.

Not me. I thought he looked good in his highlight videos, but I thought his competition must not be very good. The videos I watched, it seemed like everyone was his size and smaller. I figured he was beating up on sub-par players and that's why he wasn't rated higher.
Glad I was wrong. He's been impressive.

The difference being that while Avery may have spotted the talent, if he’s still the coach, Jaden probably doesn’t know his role, is playing out of control, taking ill-advised shots, is hesitant and just generally not the same player we saw yesterday. That’s why Avery should be a GM and not a coach. He can spot talent like Colin and Jaden, he just doesn’t know what the frick to do with it.

He's small and a limited athlete, which projects him to be an undersized, perimeter oriented 2 guard and a guy who will likely struggle a lot on the defensive end. He can dribble and has a great shot though. I don't think he was undervalued or anything. His offer list was nothing impressive. He honestly probably lucked out a ton with the coaching change. He's a great fit for what Oats wants to do but would have been a poor fit in Avery's 15 year old hero ball offense.

The level and depth of coaching these guys are receiving is leaps and bounds greater than anything Avery Johnson ever gave them. It's as you say - Avery is more of an ambassador or promoter than a head coach.
