If we are being blunt, I don't know how much more Slade is going to improve as a FB player. At 22-23 years old can you max out your speed much more than you already have? I feel like his tools are his tools. When you consider he already has two degrees, it makes sense for him to go ahead and begin the next phase of his life. That starts with giving the NFL a shot, maybe do the USFL thing for a season and see where it leads.

From your lips to God's ear. Mac needs a reliable WR

Yep - try the NFL thing and then if it doesn't work out decide whether you want to keep playing, come back and start a coaching career or do something entirely different. I'd guess the writing was on the wall (or even given verbally) that his touches/snaps were going to decrease next year. Probably not go away altogether, but definitely decrease.

We will be so sad next year the first time someone drops a punt

I'm not going to continue to argue with you. The goal of offense is to score points. He scored a lot. So maybe it wasn't because of him, but it wasn't a horrendous year offensively.
Yeah well when you have the best QB talent in college football and two high draft talent wideouts to throw to... you're going to score points.
I'm sure the impressive amounts we scored against Auburn, LSU, etc are a testament to Bill O'Brien's genius.
... or they show us the guys is not creative before the snap (formations, shifts and motions) or with his playcalling when he isn't using scripted plays.
Go back and watch the NCG and see how effective some of those plays were on that first drive and see how we never ever went back to them. For instance remember that double sealing Jamo screen?
Went for 12 yards and we never tried it again.
Dude ended our season throwing all-out fades back to back to back hoping for a prayer and when Lanning and Kirby saw it they had their defense zone under and a safety over so anything besides a perfect ball would be a pick.
Dumb arse BOB

OK, let's use the screen as an example. That play works because Jamo has burners. Who are you throwing that to after Jamo goes out? Cause he got hurt early in the second quarter.
Should we have averaged 50 points a game? What would have been success?
I can't believe I'm defending O'Brien because I didn't think he was great at all. I would have liked to have seen more pre-snap movement and more screens to protect the OL during those heavy-blitz games. But he wasn't horrendous.

BOB playcalling during the championship game wasn't excellent, but it wasn't bad either. It was at most 7.5 out of 10 when you rate his performance as Playcalling.
He went away from what was working throughout the game and was stubborn to force things at times. With all the time he had in December for preparation against Cincy and Georgia, he could've came up with creative motions, snap, routes and etc. I felt like he was conservative in 1st half and I get it, but he could've been little more aggressive... get us points fast and quick and then play smart going foward. I don't think we played our stayle of football in that game.

No that play worked because we schemed a TE and WR to seal block allowing the WR to run up the sideline.
We didn't even block it perfectly because Latu missed the oncoming safety.
Still went for 12. Never revisited.

He was worse than horrendous.
Instead of that double sealing WR screen he just ran plain ones which anyone with an offensive mind knows wouldn't work because Georgia pinned their ears back not respecting us deep after Jamo got hurt.
He is a terrible in-game play caller

Yes, it gaining 12 yards had nothing to do with the guy catching it. You're so right. Furthermore, that was a new play. Do we even know that anyone besides Jamison repped it in practice?
I'm done. You keep thinking he was horrendous. You're full of shitty takes, so I'll drop arguing this one and move on to the next. Maybe it'll be as good as blaming Bryce for Jamison tearing his ACL.

Actually think Slade will be fine in the NFL, slot receiver is a spot that teams value and he is a sure handed return man. All he needs is a team to fall in love with him. Good luck to him

HTT always wanted Bama. I remember when he transferred a member of his family was quoted as saying they regretted not picking Bama and weren’t going to make that mistake again. I felt pretty confident he’d come back and he’s going to ball out next year!

Slade always kind of reminded me of Julien Edelman

I love Slade but I don't think he has the twitch to get open in the NFL out of the slot like the other white WR clones he's being compared to.
The 3rd down the other night late in the game is a pretty perfect example of it.

How about Leary or Earle? Bill O'Brien panicked when Jamo went down. Hall was never used prior to that game but all of a sudden every throw seemed as if it went to him on the biggest stage! That's crazy for real.

I think he can get better at running routes though to create such separation.
