Devonta Lee from LSU is entering transfer portal.

Sanders is a small loss... but we'll be fine. It is actually smart for Drew Sanders to transfer, because if he lands with right team, he will be a 1st day draft.

Trea Shropshire from UAB is a big-play threat that is intriguing. Speed guy with pretty good size. I'd defer to others in terms of what type of route runner or other skills he has or doesn't. But right now the portal doesn't have a lot at WR. That could change by summer of course.

Agreed. We won’t miss any of the rest unless we have massive injuries during the season.

All the guys in the portal makes sense. None of them were going to be starters next year and most weren’t even in the two deep. The question for me is when do we start filling some of those spots from the portal? I know we got two already, but gotta think we have a few more spots now we could fill.

Early signing period does not affect an EE being on campus in January. Like before the early signing period an EE would enroll and just sign their financial papers.

Yep - post-spring ball always has a 2nd wave on portal guys.

I also don't remember hearing anything at all about JaMo until he popped us as committing to us. Wouldn't be surprising for similar with any transfers in this year.

Some folks around here talking about "when are we going to hit the portal" aren't very good at math.

We had 85 scholarship players.

We signed 23 high school kids and 2 transfers already.

That means we need 25 departures from this year's team before we can add anyone else.

B-Rob and Chris Owens are the only 2 that have actually exhausted their eligibility due to the COVID freebie year.

In sum, we need 23 total departures from players who still have eligibility remaining, whether it be by transfer, declaring for the NFL Draft, or giving up football. That's just to enroll the guys already committed, without adding anyone else from the portal.

I was 100% in agreement when Dave Doeren went on his rant about the NCAA screwing over roster management a month or so back. You can't give EVERYONE a free COVID year, but only waive the 85 rule for a single year. It needs to be bumped up, even just a little bit, until the COVID players are gone. Make it 90, 95, 100, or whatever for a few years. Then you can take it back to 85 when all the COVID guys are out.

With Baker now leaving, we only need 8 more departures.
