You can tell he is getting more comfortable with Milroe and the oline and vice versa. Uppn rewatch I could see there were quite a few different looks and changing personel within those looks and a good job of setting up later plays with earlier plays against LSU. We broke tendencies and clearly self scouted well. We were not predictable. Still need to see more but he may not be as inept as I thought earlier this season.

And Steele’s halftime adjustments have been incredible. He too is mixing up looks with a strategy. He gave Daniels a lot of man to man early and then mixed in zone from those sams looks later and it threw Daniels off a little.

Cautiously optimistic that a lot of us were a little hasty in saying Saban whiffed on two more coordinator hires.

Jury still out on Rees, but I'll give him another year. It is clear they finally figured out some way to use Milroe as a runner. Why it took this long I don't know.

Verdict on Steele been obvious for a while. Massive upgrade over golding

Eh. He shite the bed the whole first half of Tennessee. LSU defense barely managed to get on the field so I'll hold off on saying he has improved.

I think it's really hard to judge him because milroe is so sporadic. He misses wide open reads for receivers but makes plays with his legs it's truly difficult to know what Reese called and what milroe scrambled out of.

I'll say this. For this team he fits much better than BOB. On the flip side, it's obvious he is no Sark or Lane.

Because if he got hurt the season would be over. We all watched the USF game right?

I fully acknowledge that overreating to doninating LSU’s defense may be fool’s gold. It is shocking how bad an LSU defense is.

But I do think Rees was also doing things to create confusion for LSU which is promising. That was not happening earlier in the season. We were so predictable.

Wild how the OC suddenly gets better once the QB starts to improve…

Play calling is important but it’s a lot easier when you’re QB suddenly becomes more efficient and understands how to play the position.

The QB improved because the plays changed man.

It's weird how even now after what you guys have seen over the last five years that people still question the importance of coaching and think it's all about the players

It’s amazing how you just lump me in with “you guys”…last 5 years? What are you on about?

Coaching matters. Players matter more.

Both have improved no doubt but if you think the OC’s job isn’t easier with better QB play then I don’t know what to tell you.

You don’t think Milroe has improved at all btw? Interesting.

Both matter which is my point. Your initial point makes it that only one actually does.

Yeah, I think we need to pump the brakes on the Alabama offense improvements.
This LSU defense was bad enough, and take out a few starters, they were even worse. We knew this going in
We can say, at least, that our offense didn't beat itself, which I guess is a good thing.

They probably have the softest power 5 D line we’ll see. I’m not saying the offense hasn’t improved, but I will say we shouldn’t get used to QB runs being effective every down against the rest of the schedule besides Chattanooga.

I think everyone can agree that milroe seeking to advance the ball in situations where previously we were just taking sacks is going to help us. Sure LSU sucks on D, but it's a promising step in the right direction. If we keep it up it puts constant pressure on the defense, they can't just tee off. That's going to come in handy down the line

The guy is doing an incredible job. This has been an incredible coaching job by all of the staff. I think the offensive line finally has the right starting 5 which has been a huge difference. There’s not a better guard duo in college football than Booker and Roberts. These guys are monsters. It also looks like Milroe is getting really comfortable with the offense and the designed runs add another dimension to the offense. Pretty exciting seeing the potential of this team being developed right in front of our eyes. The scary thing is, I don’t think we’ve came close to playing our best game yet

Here is my post from last week - keys to beating LSU

Add a little creativity to the run game.

Outside zone / read option with 22 at RB. Read the back side DE - give it to Haynes or pull it and run outside the other direction with Milroe. That call would get the DL/LB running sideline to sideline both direction and tire them down.

Jet sweeps to Law and a forward facing jet sweep with a back side read for Milroe.

Double tight screens. Haynes to one side and Niblack to the other.

Outside Zone Read option - CHECK - the first time they ran it Milroe scored a long touchdown. I was not correct about which back they would use.

Jet sweep to Law - CHECK - they used the pop pass version

double tight screen - check - not the players I suggested and the play was blown up. BUT they did try it once
