I'll say it for the 1000th time, we have to apply pressure from the line of scrimmage. Delayed and corner blitzes with a quick passing game like Florida or Clemson is asking to give up alot of points.

Agreed - I don't understand not just bringing numbers from different places and making him make quick decisions. The delay blitz thing.........I just don't understand why the hell that still exists.

Oh well.

The delay blitz thing

It happens so often and doesn’t make sense. So many passes in today’s game are quick, short throws. By the time your LBs or DBs get to the LOS the QB is already throwing the pass.

Pete Golding sucks. The end. He got horribly out coached last night. Fortunately, our offense out played them even more. One can hope that they put together a better game plan over the next couple of weeks.

And, we're awful at it. It never gets home, our blizters never even get close to the pocket. 2/3 of the time they just float around outside and kind of patty cake their way around the circle.

It's absolutely fvckin maddening.

To be fair, sometimes the delayed blitz is as a result of the offensive call. If someone is manned up on the RB or H-Back and he shows pass blocking, that defender fires. It's not always a definitive delayed blitz call. Now, whether that LBer or defender's responsibility should be changed if his man doesn't go out on a route needs to be addressed. We'd make more money if those players just occupied a short zone if their man doesn't go out on a route instead of the useless delayed blitz.

And before we dump all the blame on Golding for the Rush 3, Drop 8 bullshite, Nick needs to eat some shite, too. I guarantee you that the DC checked with him, "How do you want to play this, Boss? Pressure or Cover?" Nick has a headset on. If he didn't say, "Let's bring some heat this series" then shame on him.

My question is, why hasn't Jalyn Moody played more ? I know it was only Arkansas but he looked really solid in that game when Christian Harris went out. He plays fast and has confidence in his assignments.

Bring Pruitt home. Folding needs to go back to the MAC or wherever he came from. His blitz packages are the worst I’ve ever seen.

Yea I don't really care whose fault it is - Nick, Nick and Golding, Golding, all the players.....it's bad and it's been consistently bad for going on 3 years now against good offenses. I agree that some of these mess ups are clearly just players messing up - not necessarily calls. We had 3-4 of those Saturday that could have totally changed the game (3rd and 17 zone botch, whatever the hell Surtain was doing on the 3rd qtr TD, whatever the hell Jobe was doing on the goal line, whiffing on the fumble recovery). I mean, if we do those 4 things, we probably win the game 52-27 or something.

But it's always something. They've lost any and all benefit of the doubt that our defense can even semi-function against an elite offense. The only time in the last 3 years that we have done so was the 1st half against Oklahoma.

Which is why the prospect of playing Clemson is concerning. You just know our offense is going to need 50 or 60 to win that game.

Yea, I think we'd go into that game with a target of at least 40-45 points on offense. Less than that and I'm not sure we'd have enough.

Is what it is, but at least we have the offense to do it. Because as down on the defense as I am, I trust our offense to do whatever whenever. Those dudes refuse to lose.

I agree, it has been bad defense for the last 3 seasons and the common denominator is Pete Golding.
