You know what helps players take it to the next level? Good coaching. And that's something they aren't getting.

As usual, Murphy has f/d this team up. Nobody improves, everybody regresses. This crap about Murphy built this thing is bullshite. One championship in 25 years with the money, support, players and facilities is unacceptable.

Ok who is Murphy’s replacement?

How do justify firing a coach that wins so many games and is going into the hall of fame today? A mutual step down?

There is a lot of hardware from him being our head coach, I do believe he should adapt/change some things but the team is at a championship level almost every year.

Every coach has deficiencies bro c'mon man.

Pat Murphy has adapted & adjusted plenty. He does not rely on one pitcher shoot just a year or so ago Sarah Cornell was the best pitcher (4) on our roster. He has a dynamic duo in Montana & Lexi so stop that nonsense you spitting.

You and a couple more on here are some very good coaches I see.

I'm sure Pat Murphy is helping his players mentally but it's not up to him whether they break through or not shoot it boils down to them and anybody whoever PLAYED sports knows this.

Montana Fouts has to take over PERIOD. She has to take it to another level because if she leads them playing at a high level they will follow.

Domino effect

Btw... I'll give you the Bobby Cox comparison.

I don't think that the Bobby Cox comparison is a good one at all, unless you think very highly of Murphy. Bobby Cox is a Hall of Famer, he is one of the best managers to ever manage in the Big Leagues. That is not me talking he is regarded as that by the media, by owners and GM's that he has worked for and coached against, by players he coached and coached against, and by other managers he coached against, by almost anyone who is anyone who was involved with MLB during the time he managed. He gets a bad wrap for going 1-4 in the World Series, but in only 2 of those World Series were they the better team and he won one of those. The run of division titles will never be done again. Murphy is good but not great, saying he has underachieved might be fair, but to say he is awful is plain stupid. Awful means losing most of your games and missing the post season most of the time, he is light years ahead of that.

No he hasn't. He really really hasn't. He wants to scrape out a few runs and rely on a stud pitcher to go the distance and shut down the opposing team.

That's been his MO for more than a decade. Softball has become an offensive game and he hasn't changed with it.

Not to mention Montana and Lexi are a senior and a junior and he hasn't recruited a stud pitcher in the last 3 years. Gonna be even worse when they're gone.

"Not trying to rip on you but this is the same language Murphy uses at times that makes me think he has never played ball before. Anyone that has played the game does not say "batting coach" - it is a "hitting coach". I equate it with people who use the term "hindcatcher" for the catcher. But then again, maybe Softball uses a lot of different terms that we didn't use in baseball."

LOL OK, doesn't really matter as a hitting coach and batting coach are basically the same thing but there is a difference! I'll just tell you what a former major league coach told me! "You have coaches that virtually all of their instruction is only about swing mechanics or hitting the ball but that's a problem because each plate appearance is not simply about swing mechanics. Batting involves both swing mechanics plus the total plate experience such as...*Pitch identification and when to take pitches *Awareness of how the defense is playing you *The game situation *Moving/Protecting runners *Bunting *Mental cues, calming your mind and body." He also mentioned a few other things I can't remember now. I only used the label batting coach because that's what he used when he explained it to me! I've also heard many others say batting coach as well as hitting coach.

Bobby Cox is in the Hall of Fame because he managed a lot of years and won a lot of games. But MANY of those years in Atlanta all he had to do was put the same 8 on the lineup card and pencil in Maddox, Smoltz, Glavine and Avery in the 9 hole. Me and you could do that over 162 games and win a shite ton of games and the pennant. Where he sucked was when he got in a 5 or 7 game series and actually had to manage i.e. double switch, when to start the runners, when to bunt etc. that’s when he got schooled. Murphy is EXACTLY a Bobby Cox without the knowledge of the game!!

Alexis and Montana for the W! Abby with a much needed ‘timely hit’ to score 2 runs and break the 1-1 tie. Need another W Sunday too! Folks working at the stadium seem pretty convinced Bama will get selected to host a regional and a super regional. Ticket request info was mailed yesterday. One game at a time though - win the next one!

Alabama Softball Rallies to Beat Missouri 3-1

Abby Doerr's clutch hit in the bottom of the sixth secured the game two win for the Crimson Tide.

Patrick Murphy Inducted into Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022

The Crimson Tide head coach is the first inductee for the sport of softball

Alabama softball head coach Patrick Murphy was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Saturday night as part of its Class of 2022, becoming its first member for the sport of softball.

"I can't thank everyone from the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame enough," Murphy said. "It's an incredible honor. This kind of thing doesn't happen to a guy from a small town in Iowa. Congrats to everyone else honored tonight. When I started this job, I wanted to accomplish four things. I wanted to have a family atmosphere, I wanted a team full of servant leaders, I wanted a team that was full of 'mudita' and I wanted everyone on the team to have an attitude of gratitude. To whom much is given, much is expected in return."

Murphy, currently in his 26th year overall at Alabama and 24th as head coach, has built Alabama softball up from its inaugural season in 1997 into a national power. He has guided the Crimson Tide to 22 NCAA Tournaments and 13 Women's College World Series appearances, including a national championship in 2012. He has earned six SEC regular season championships and five SEC Tournament titles as head coach and has been named SEC Coach of the Year five times. Alabama student-athletes have earned 60 NFCA All-America accolades under his mentorship and 33 CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. He was previously inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2013.

"Congratulations to Coach Murphy on his induction into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame," University of Alabama Athletics Director Greg Byrne said. "We are so proud of him, not only for his accomplishments on the field, but also, and more importantly, for the impact he's had on the lives of the many student-athletes that he's coached. Coach Murphy helped build Alabama Softball from the ground up and has made it into one of the nation's top programs. He deserves every bit of this recognition and is the true definition of a hall of famer."

Murphy is one of eight members of this year's Alabama Sports Hall of Fame class that also includes former Crimson Tide basketball standout Keith Askins along with Doyle Alexander, William Andrews, Rusty Greer, Jake Peavy, Philip Rivers and Justin Tuck.

Joka are you replayed to Murph? Or are you Murph??? You defend him regardless of his consistent bad management of superior talent.

Copied from RollBamaRoll. Straight facts.

It has been such a backwards run for Bama. From mid-March they played really well against ranked teams Kentucky, UGA, and Florida. The games that followed were supposed to be the easy stretch. UNA and Alcorn should’ve been run-rule wins. TAMU, WKU, and Mizzou should’ve have been a clean sweep to end the season. It has not worked out that way.

Murphy continues to tinker with the batting lineup at a point in the season when it should be set in stone. The Gut® rules supreme! Bow down, ye peasants.

Someone needs to call OSHA on Murphy. He is overworking poor Fouts who threw 140, 44, and 124 pitches on three consecutive days.

Here we go with the mysteries again. Lexi Kilfoyl has not pitched since April 23 at Texas A&M - a game in which the junior was hit for seven earned runs in 1.1 innings.

Bama has not scored more than four runs in the last eight games. The most recent occurrence was against little ol’ UNA on April 19 when the Tide won 6-1.

The Crimson Tide has not had a big inning of more than three runs scored since scoring five runs in the third inning of the series opener against Florida almost a month ago, April 9.

While usually run-happy, Alabama did not attempt a stolen base in the entire series.

If you thought Tow would be re-energized after her big homecoming last week, you would be mistaken. The Tide Super-Senior went 0 for 8 on the weekend, and also tallied another error at first base - three in six games. 2022 was supposed to be a big year for Tow but her stats are down across the board. It has been a highly disappointing performance from the former All-American this season.

Goodnight and Jenna Johnson also went hitless.Of the four highest batting averages on Alabama, none of the players were on the team last season: Shipman (.352), Prange (.348), Goodnight (.315), and Bloodworth (.313).

For some odd reason, The Gut® pinch-hit Woodard (9 for 49 on the season) in the bottom of sixth in a 3-1 game for Jenna Lord who was 1 for 2 at that point. She struck out. After Heivilin singled, Gut McGutterson pinched Aubrey Barnhart for Kat Grill (2 for 5 on the weekend) and she hit into an inning ending double play.

I have a feeling Woodard will not be on the team next year. Just a hunch.

Another one from My Gut (patent pending): don’t be surprised when Bama has a key player or two transfer out or not return over the off-season (a la KB Sides and/or Maddie Morgan).

Alabama sold out all three games which is a damn shame. These Tide fans show up, get loud and supportive, and this team just does not feed off that at all.

Arkansas set a new single season program home run record of 100 round-trippers and guess where they finished in the SEC standings, Murph! The game has changed. Come join us here in the 2020s!

Some of you kind readers might think I have been harsh this season. The Tide did finish 41-10 overall and 16-8 in the conference. However, they did not have to face Arkansas or Tennessee this season. They had some inexcusable losses and have barely scratched by on several others thanks to the tireless wizardry of Fouts. I suppose I expect better like what is going on in Norman, OK or Tallahassee, FL.
