Interesting. I missed that ruling. That's good, if you ask me. So are scholarships now for a minimum length of 4 years?

It got passed along with other rules that got most of the media attention. Iirc, they have to be honored until the student-athletes graduate or their athletic eligibility is used up.

Its really not, he is 21 and averages 9 points a game in JUCO. Some of you have him way overrated. Yes he can jump out of the gym but he needs a lot of work on everything else. Him shooting 56% on free throws makes me really question his ceiling as a shooter.

I’ve been a little confused myself as to why the expectations are so high here. He didn’t look that great, and the fact that he’s the first to be cut shows Oats feels the same way.

That's huge. I'm almost 40, so guys from my generation weren't getting screwed by losing scholarships because of injuries. But my uncle has a friend that played at a now SEC school, who lost his scholarship when he blew out his knee. Things were cut throat as hell back in the day.

Well, my main feelings were that nobody should be cut before Rojas. But, if Rojas really is a non-counter, then I can live with losing Wilson to keep everyone else. But, Wilson will end up being better than his juco numbers. He couldn't play high school ball due to a misdiagnosed illness. He's raw, but an athletic freak that will grow in leaps and bounds.

The fact that he has high-major programs beating down his doors within moments of the news dropping says otherwise. Especially when there are more high-quality options than ever for coaches to go after...

You haven't been paying attention.

The offer list argument is only valid if it's a prospect you like.

Nowadays players with a career-ending injury or medical issue get a medical hardship scholly that doesn't count toward scholly limits.

Usually a guys numbers go down when they go from Juco to college. Rojas averaged 20 points a game in Juco and 3 points a game last year in college.

Enough about Wilson. Where are my homies at that are excited about Gurley? I will be the president of the Gurley fan club if I have to.

His last 4 games last year...

Mercer - 24 points 10 rebs
Citadel - 21 points 9 rebs
Wofford - 29 points 7 rebounds
VMI - 30 points 7 rebounds

and for the haters that will respond with "well anybody can do that vs Wofford, the SEC is a lot harder"

Vs Auburn he got 21 points and 8 rebounds and that was when they had Wiley and Okoro.

Don’t you dare flood this forum with facts and accurate analysis. Right now Langston is at worst the next Amare Stoudemire according to us

Gurley might be damn good, but he sure isn’t Gary. Gary is gonna average a double double next season and the hard hat will be named after him after winning for every game during the season

Yeah, usually. Rojas is garbage. I'm not saying Wilson was going to be a star, but he's only played a couple of years of organized ball. His situation is different.

Anyway, we had to cut him, and we're apparently stuck with undersized, can't jump, slow, foul machine, turnover prone Rojas. But, as long as he doesn't get on the court, I guess it doesn't matter. The guys ahead of Slowjas, would probably be ahead of Wilson too.

I like Wilson, but with the way some teams are attacking the portal you're at a disadvantage this year if you don't take advantage of getting a guy like Gurley to fill a need if he is available.

It's dog eat dog out there right now in CBB. Hell, Auburn purged half of their roster to bring in new guys.

Coaches don’t really have much time to let players develop. They have to win and win as fast as possible. This kind of stuff is the outcome

Just looking at our lineup, Quin, Shack, Primo, and Gurley are all guys that we absolutely certain are capable of averaging 15 ppg. We very strongly believe that Davison and Ellis are capable of 15 ppg. Now obviously, those 6 guys don't combine for 90 ppg. But I don't see anyone there who will average less than 10 ppg.

Possibly Ellis, which I only say since he averages 5.5ppg, and there's only so many shots to go around. But I bet his average is much higher in the second half of the season, when the switch flipped and he started balling. But since he's our best on ball defender, he's going to get more minutes than a lot of people expect.

And that's not even getting into Bediako, Burnett, Gary, Tchikou, KAH, and Miles. Our offense is going to be absurd. But as much talent as we have, we're definitely guard and wing heavy. Adding Gurley is huge to our overall balance. A big that can run but also pass and score in the post in half court sets, is the perfect piece for this roster.
