Offense is likely better than #15. That's a lot of firepower we're capable of producing if everyone is healthy.
We've finished 33, 32, 16, 15 in Oats 4 seasons. I think we're going to be similarly streaky shooting with the roster we have this year. Perhaps we'll be able to supplement that more with length and scoring around the rim/short shots more than before.

Yea I only caught some of this but summer league is not some sort of X's and O's "team".
These guys meet each other in a hotel the night before game 1 and just kind of generally do some basic stuff.

I agree. This has a good chance to be our best offense under Oats yet.

Have you heard anything about the schedule? Who are some teams being mentioned to play at Coleman this season? Birmingham?

In adjusted offense yes, in actual points scored per game we were 3rd in the country in 2019 and 7th last year. I think we’ll be top 5 this year.

If BHam is announced, don’t expect a big “fun” opponent this year

What channel is the summer league games on?

Right, but we've been discussing adjusted offensive rating.

I know but I just prefer actual points scored to adjusted offense, why adjust for the tempo of slower teams ect? We play fast to score more points and scoring the most points wins games.

Well, I guess, but then on the flip side we give up more points when we actually defend well because we defend against more possessions. I don't think we were the #110 team nationally in defense last year.
I think how many points you score/give up per possession is a pretty solid metric.

Thats true but while say Virginia for example does play great defense, the fact they play so damn slow on offense really contributes to that in making them elite defensively and harder to play against.
I feel that same way about our offensive philosophy, and the speed we play at is a part of that. Adjusted O doesn't really take our speed into account. How efficient we still are even at the speed we play is pretty amazing though. We were 4th in adjusted tempo last year.

I agree with that for sure.
Less possessions inherently gives you a better PPP number, which is why in the tournament teams that slow it down and play with limited possessions like UVA are always so much more likely to lose a game to a mid major. Just less margin for error.

Look... We want basketball to score between 70 to 100 a game. We want defense to stay below 80... We don't want a high scoring offense between both teams... Which we will see couple times this fall

ESPN and NBAtv. Some hames on NBAtv are replays. Some of our other players, like Clowney and JD will start playing this weekend.

I appreciate the analytic side of basketball and love to do deep stat dives but in football for example when I want to know who had the best offense I look at who scored the most points per game, I have that same philosophy in all the sports I watch.

Oats is an analytics guy. He’s won 4 of the last 6 championships awarded by the SEC. I’m going to respectfully go with the analytics on this one.

Schedule is already hard as hell. Oats keeps trying to steal my attention away during football season. Bastard.

I think we all assume our defense will take a step back this year and when Bediako left I thought the same thing but since we added Wague and Nelson I feel a lot better.
We’re gonna have a lot of length this year, more than last year.
Nelson 6’11
Stevenson 6’10
Wague 6’10
Pringle 6’9
Walters 6’9
Dioubate 6’7
Parker 6’7
Griffen 6’7
Cosby 6’5
Estrada 6’4
Wrightsell 6’3
Sears is really our only “short” player now that Quinerly left and he is pretty thick and a solid defender for his height.
