Slater hinting that Perez may be coming too?

That would be my guess. Anyone know why he didn't play at all last year? Any injury or was he just a bad defender?

not, though, we'll be fine with Estrada/Sears/Wrightsell handling the ball.

I would think that after going through draft evaluation process, that scouts told Sears that he needs to show that he can be a primary ball handler. Unless he wants to play in China, he's too short to play SG at the next level. so I'm anticipating improvement in that part of his game.

He was denied eligibility after transferring so late even though his coach was fired.

Maybe Slater's referencing one person, and he's lived in both places? That's what I had initially thought when he tweeted it, though if that is the case, my boy needs to work on his grammar.

As long as one of them steps up and proves capable of defending without fouling I think we should be OK.

A lot of people seem to be forgetting Bediako's freshmen season. He was a foul machine. But last year, he got over the instinct to try to block it when a ball handler initiated contract while shooting. But this year, Oats got him to keep his hands straight up and holding his ground. That's a no call, and usually a missed shot. Knowing when and when not to attempt to shot block is hard as hell for a center. We know Pringle has the physical tools to lock down the post (except maybe against straight bruisers). He's just gotta take the next step mentally.

Seems correct, per the WVU media guide:

Playing paint defense in college is mostly just being tall and understanding how the refs call the game so you know what you can and cannot get away with as far as contact goes. There are a ton of tall guys who never figure that second part out though. We have certainly had our fair share of them. Hopefully Pringle and Wague both make that same jump that Bediako did.

Between Pringle and Wague maybe we can get 40 minutes a game out of them.

I’m sure there will be a few games where they’re both in foul trouble but thankfully Nelson is more than capable of playing the 5 when needed.

I like our front court depth now a lot.

Rereading Slater’s tweet, I think it’s just about one guy.

I think Mohamed Wague is who he's referring to if I'm not mistaken.

The "are" would suggest two, but it could be a grammatical error.

I don't think this is the case, as it was tweeted out after he already committed.

I think it has to just be a poorly worded tweet. I can't find anyone in the portal who is uncommitted, originally from Queens, and someone we would likely be targeting. Dioubate is from Queens, and he and Wague have the same first name, albeit with slightly different spellings, so maybe that's what he's referring to? Would just be a bit odd since Dioubate has been signed and on campus for a while now.

If it was someone else, I'd probably think it was poorly worded. But for one of the most well-known college insiders like Slater to tweet that out after a commitment was already publicly announced would be very uncharacteristic. My guess is that the 2nd guy's hometown is listed somewhere else but he has some kind of relation to Queens.

Isn't his Trilly Donovan burner account where Slater likes to make all of his vague, mysterious references though?

I'm not entirely sure that is him, though I was on that train for a while. Slater has been doing the subtle hints like that for a while now. For example, a couple months back his response to an Auburn fan asking for Auburn recruiting news was "something sizable" happening the next day. That day a 7-foot, 300 lb center decommitted from Auburn. Auburn fans were convinced they landed a stud

Sometimes even a bench role player can have a huge impact by keeping 2 or 3 better players from having to play out of position.
