I still think we are a top 25 team. If I had to predict right now, I’d go 4th in the SEC. Five or six seed in the tourney.

If we win 20 games, with our non conference schedule, we'll be at least a 6 seed, like in 21. But that's not gonna come easy.

And I can see JQ being susceptible to getting into a similar mentally as Shack did. Where he's frustrated with playing time and when he does gets in the game, he could start playing hero ball. That's how all our ball handlers were in 21/22, and it's why we fell apart.
When JQ approaches things as an old school PG, he can make an offense hum. And while sometimes his hero ball works, and he goes on fire. More often than not, it's the disaster his haters always screamed about.
It sucks how it went down, but there's definitely a sense of relief. There's a few young guys that may end up getting a development crash course.

Yeah I mean I think as a general policy you should immediately cut ties with any player who enters the portal aside from situations where a new coach is coming in. Otherwise it's not a good idea to bring back a guy who doesn't 100% want to be there. Especially a couple who were given everything they could possibly want and probably given a far longer leash than they ever deserved like those two were. If that's not enough for them, they can kick rocks.

I kind of remember us being a little more desperate that off-season. We lost a ton of guys off that SEC championship team. And the portal was brand new, uncharted territory. Seems like Oats has a much better grasp of how to use it.

I remember the talk coming out of Bama the off-season after we lost to ND in the first round…basically it was a “never again” mindset/approach. Wouldn’t be anymore toleration of players not buying in. If JQ wants to walk away from something great, let him. We’ll be fine.
