There's no way a BOL poster knows what Arkansas offered Grant Nelson. He hasnt even visited there yet. Easy to spot that that's BS.

I agree. But it doesn’t hurt to share over here in case it does end up being true

Yeah I just don't see where he'd fit in with minutes between Brazille, Mitchell, and Fall. He'd probably play but that's a lot of bigs to rotate through. Right now we have Pringle and that's it. In terms of playing style and minutes it's really not a contest. The fact that he is taking a visit there is concerning in and of itself to me though. There are no basketball related reasons for it in light of their roster situation and play style. He's doing it solely because they offered a big fricking bag. I just hope we are able to convince him that a good year against top competition in our system will put him in a better position to get drafted and make a lot more than whatever they are offering him.

You think the first time money is discussed is on a recruiting visit? I have no opinion one way or the other about the veracity of that BOL poster's claim, but the fact that he hasn't visited yet isn't exactly a barrier to an offer being conveyed.

Fall hasnt enrolled yet and there's a lot of smoke that he may not, not sure if its a visa issue or what, I have seen different things speculated, but I assume thats why they're putting the full court press on Nelson.

If they are offering 500k more than us then idk why he would even take a visit here. I would believe that he is worth about 600k and that Arkansas will probably offer that or more but I doubt we would get a visit if there was that big of a discrepancy. It definitely sounds made up to me.

I don't see it neither.
He could literally come here and play with a ton of FREEDOM. Nate Oats could run the offense through him as well and this will allow him to showcase his passing ability. He's a walking triple double in this offense.

Alabama can get up there as well so don't be fooled.

Yeah you're right.
The guy that told me that Estrada was gonna commit when he did, works in a kind of peripheral role in the bball program and the number I heard we gave Estrada was 400k. So I dont know why we would lowball Nelson like that and still get a visit if we did. I assume we are offering around 400k, or maybe more since we are desperate.

Oats really hates Musselman too so I am sure he will do whatever he can to win this recruiting battle. If Arkansas gets him it will probably be because they offered him close to a million, I wouldn't put it past them, but it would be stupid. They got outbid by the G league for Ron Holland on a good bit less than that.

The G league is signing guys out of HS from 500k to 700k a year. For Nick Smith JR and Brandon Miller us and Arkansas matched their G league offers, luckily both guys wanted the college experience.
I have a hard time believing Nelson would get over 600k, usually the top market for a transfer is 500k from what I have seen. Being this late and teams being desperate puts him in a good bargaining position though.
Allegedly Nigel Pack got 800k to transfer to Miami last year which is the highest I have heard of for a transfer by a good bit. Hunter Dickenson may have gotten close to that, I haven't heard what his number was.

Joka….Alabama football has money.
Alabama basketball does not. If it did we wouldn’t still be playing in that Giant Shithole

Keep thinking that.
JD offer was big...but that's neither here nor there.
Let's just get Grant Nelson...
I can get him connected with a couple of backwoods lol. That's all I can contribute.

And if we lost him because of NIL.....that would REALLY be a bad sign in terms of how we can compete in the NIL game.
This is a pretty unique situation. They lost the #1 player in the country at the last minute to the G League. That opened up an absolutely fricking massive bag. So they're probably willing to overpay to land one of the last elite talents left.

Keep thinking what Joka? That football has way more money and boosters willing to pony up money? It's the flat out truth.
Since the airplane hangar was renovated in 2005 into the shining example of basketball excellence we still play in today Bryant-Denny has been expanded/renovated 3 times. That's 24 million for Coleman in the past 20 years compared to over 200 million for BDS in the same timeframe.
The same philosophy is applied to recruiting for basketball vs recruiting for football. The large majority of our money guys are FOGs.

Bro, I'm not saying basketball can compete with football when it comes too money. I know they can't.

Nelson has also started following JQ and Oats per tCommunity.
