How did we get Brandon Miller then if we are offering no NIL in basketball?
We signed Miller out of the portal?
If your total NIL pool is $300,000 you'd be much better off offering all of it to a player like Miller than trying to spread it around. We also went from signing 4 top ~75 prospects last year and being heavily involved with several others to 0 this year and clearly losing out on at least one kid (Dilione) because of NIL, so I don't think it's that big of a stretch to think we may have gotten a payday loan of sorts for last year's high school recruits and it left us without much to work with for portal guys last year or in general this year.

I’m guessing Oats is given about $1M a year in NIL.

Brandon Millers NIL worth was 800k and Quinerly’s is almost 500k.

If you got that from On3 that’s what it CURRENTLY is. I’m pretty sure before the season Miller was around 100k

Millers was 400k before the season started last year according to on3.

That AL.com article tanked Millers NIL momentarily

Yes…so that adds up with my $1M estimate. 400k to the star in Miller and 600k to the rest of the team.

Jaykwon Waltons NIL value is $12,000 according to on3 we are spending $12,000 on average for a recruit…that’s pathetic

We signed the number 3 recruiting class in the country last year with NIL in effect. Id hate to see how you guys acted if we signed a class outside the top 20.

Our Average NIL is the lowest in On3 top 25.
Kentucky averages 550k per player in NIL.
Arkansas averages 150k in NIL
UConn averaged 115k in NIL
We averaged 12k…..after our greatest season ever.

This is not how any of this is supposed to work. The NIL value of each player represents how much they estimate they can pull in endorsements, appearances, etc. It is definitely not supposed to represent how much boosters need to pay a player to come to school. I really wish there was someone to enforce NIL rules how they're supposed to. But the NCAA has no teeth anymore and now NIL is just pay for play.

You think Kentucky paid over 7 million in NIl for that team they had last year?
Maybe thats how much the players brought in in total endorsement deals but you know, the companies they endorse pay that money, not Kentucky.

My comment about NIL being a problem goes for most schools (including us) as Nate referred to in that interview. Some are making that problem work out for them in their favor while other programs haven't been on the favorable end. We're somewhere in the middle class (maybe even upper-middle).
Yet for some reason a select few on here try to to preach that NIL has basically no effect on where a kid decides to go. Even going as far as to use "minutes" as the real reason a 5'11" guard might go to one of the most stacked backcourts in the country right now.
NIL is a thing guys. We can acknowledge that it has an effect in todays recruiting.

You talking about Perry? Has he committed to Arkansas?
If you're talking about Menifield I dont think we really pursued him, the guys we are currently in on are a lot better.

Not sure on arrival time, but BJ Mack is scheduled to be in Tuscaloosa today through Sunday.
Supposedly Aaron Estrada is in Tuscaloosa today as well according to the community.

Person I responded to mentioned JQ/Sears as hindrances while a Davis/Menifield/Blocker (5-star)/Marks backcourt has minutes up for grabs.

Slater said that AU will be getting "something sizable" from the portal on Monday and that "the edit is ready". Any idea who that could be? Oquendo maybe?
ETA: not sure I would classify Oquendo as "sizable", but i'm not sure who all they are linked to.

On3 has Esteada ranked as the 6th best transfer, Perry at 17th, Menifield at 30 and Tramon Mark at 49 fwiw.
Just because they come from a power 6 school, you’ve heard of them, and have a higher NIl value doesnt mean they're better players.
Give me Perry and Estrada over Menifield and Mark any day.
Id take Walton over most other SF’s in the portal too he fits out style perfectly.

I like Estrada and Perry better than Marks and at least as well as Menifield, but we haven't landed them yet, and very likely won't land both.
Having said that, using these On3 rankings to justify which recruits are better ain't it
Many of those rankings are hilariously bad.
