Could be wrong but BJ kinda reminds me of what Oats had in Nick Perkins at Buffalo. If we land him I wonder if that would effect Pringle

He shot 45% from three two years ago and is a career 36% three point shooter. Id say thats pretty damn good. Brandon Miller shot 38% from three last year for comparison sake.

On 2.7 attempts. Dumb comparison, Miller took almost 3 times as many threes. Do you think Gurley is a good shooter too because he shot over 40% once at Furman?

There's pretty much no chance Mack would play the five (no rebounding or rim protection) and no chance Pringle would play the four (no shot), so I don't think that would affect him at all to be honest.

Thats a really good comparison, both are 6'8 250. Mack is a little bit better shooter than Perkins was imo.

Mack hit 39 out of 87 3 pointers that year, thats a decent sample size. He can definitely shoot pretty well.

No reason for the "Dumb comparison" part, but this would essentially be my response otherwise. 3 of the four seasons were at 33% or less including his most recent season in which he finally shot a more significant volume. Even at his career average, on that volume that's a capable percentage, not great.

Its not a given that a player will become a good shooter.
Most of the time they dont get much better. Maybe he can learn to dribble to his left and shoot from that side. That would help a little.

The only season Mack had a bad season shooting was as a TRFR where he only shot 14 threes. Every other year he has been 32% or above which is pretty good for a 250 lb forward.

He's probably closer to the 33.5% shooter he was this past season than the 45% shooter he was two years ago. You also have to account for the Alabama factor, so we're probably looking at a guy who'd shoot 30-32% or so from outside for us. Not great or anything, but certainly good enough from a 6'8" 250 power forward.

Thats probably about right. You take out his Freshman season where he only shot 14 threes you get.

Sophomore - 32% on 53 attempts
Junior - 45% on 87 attempts
Senior - 34% on 155 attempts

His career average would be 37%

Clowney shot 28% from three this year, really seemed like he shot higher than that. He was either hot or cold.

All of those are higher than what Gurley or Clowney have produced in a season for us.

You want to lose in the Sweet 16 again? Because recruiting 32% 3PT shooters is how you do that.

Really? Because the last two times we made the sweet 16's our forwards shot

Alex Reese - 28% in 2021
Noah Clowney - 28% in 2023
