Yeah no crap. I think we were actually in it for Jones for a while but he decided to stay at Xavier when they hired Sean Miller.

But that sort of 2 year plan doesn't seem to really exist in the transfer portal era.

Yep. You get the role you were after immediately, have a wide open path to it as a sophomore, or hit the portal. That's the current state of college basketball. I still think you have to try to recruit some prep kids who you think just need some seasoning but will ultimately give you 2-3 good years, but there is literally no upside to recruiting true projects out of high school anymore. There's literally zero chance you'll ever get a fraction of what you put in back out.

I could be interpreting it wrong but Harper on Rivals says Bradley has a lot to do with us turning up the heat for Menifield. Unless I’m interpreting it wrong It’s sounds like he thinks we land Menifield

Some smoke that Alabama has picked up their pursuit of Menifield. Might say Alabama leads right now

I'm really not thrilled about the idea of having a bunch of guards who are only over 6 feet tall if you include their hair and don't weigh 180 pounds even if they're soaking wet. We need guys who finish through contact instead of around it. NCAA refs are not like NBA refs. They facilitate prison rules basketball and you need a couple of big, strong finishers to counteract that crap.

The list of people who have contacted him has been released though, why would he and us be keeping it secret that we contacted him?

I agree. But Menifield is Kira Lewis fast with the basketball. So I would be ok with him. Watts said Oats was putting an emphasis on physicality and experience in this portal

Mack would be intriguing. He's kind of a discount Kobe Brown. Really nimble around the basket for a guy you would not expect to be on first glance, really strong through contact, and he can shoot it.

He said we were getting Colby Jones and Kobe Brown last offseason fwiw.

I don't remember him saying we'd land them, but more so that we were looking at what they would do. Regardless, considering neither transferred, I don't really hold that against him. He's been right about a lot in the past couple seasons.

If we don't land Ware, it would look a little worse, since he will be transferring to another school and no one else has reported our interest in him.

Just curious, but what specifically do you not like? Seems like a pretty seamless fit.

Of the guys we've been reported to go after, he'd probably be my second biggest want after Denver Jones.

his per 40 minute stats are 4 rebs, 4 assists, 14 points, thats just not that impressive. Bradleys are 5 rebs, 6 assists, 13 points. Plus Menified is a lot smaller than Bradley and not as good on defense.

He seems like a step down from Bradley to me. I do like that Menifield can shoot the 3 pretty well.

Not sure how I feel about BJ Mack. I guess he's more of a Gurley replacement. Seems like a big back-to-the-basket guy on offense and offers no rim protection on defense at the mid-major level. He's a capable (not great) shooter, but that seems to be the extent of what he does to fit our system.
