I was talking about Kris Parker and his averages of 25 ppg and 14 rpg . Not the Central guy.

That makes sense. I figured he was playing in a lower classification going by his rebounding numbers.

Caleb Holt led his team to the State title. He scored something like 66 points in the last two games.

BIRMINGHAM – Buckhorn coach Patrick Harding said his team “peaked at the right time.” So did 6-foot-5 freshman Caleb Holt.

Holt tallied 32 points, 18 rebounds and four assists to lead the Bucks (28-7) to a 65-56 victory over Mountain Brook (26-8) in Saturday’s AHSAA State Basketball Class 6A championship game at the BJCC’s Legacy Arena.

He earned MVP honors and Buckhorn captured its first state title since 1995.

“He’s a generational talent,” Mountain Brook coach Tyler Davis said as he took his first look at the post-game stat sheet.

“What do you want me to say? That’s a Lebron James, Michael Jordan performance.”

Holt scored Buckhorn’s first nine points of the third quarter and made 12-of-18 shots and 5-of-9 free throws. When he missed a dunk late in the fourth quarter, he corralled the loose ball and immediately scored a layup.

Holt’s 32-point performance came just three days after he scored 33 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the state semifinal victory over McGill-Toolen.

How did Holt evaluate his own performance? “I think I played pretty good,” he said. “I missed a lot of free throws. I’ve got to get back in the gym and practice free throws.”

Are we recruiting Davis too? ‘24 class targets are looking good if we get them.

Ty Davis has an awkward shooting style but he's money with it.

Basketball intelligence
Finished with either hand
Still room to get a lot BETTER!

I think he's 6'5 as well.

Five-star junior Trentyn Flowers sets commitment date and time, talks finalists

Trentyn Flowers, the No. 21 overall prospect in the 2024 class, has set his commitment date and time, he tells 247Sports.

On March 17th at 5:30 PM ET the five-star junior will decide between Alabama, Arkansas, Creighton, Kansas, Louisville and North Carolina live on 247Sports.

"Really just weighing everything and talking to all of these coaches I just felt like I built a lot of great and amazing relationships so I felt like it was time for me and my family to let everyone know where I want to play," he said of why he was making an early decision. "I just thought it was best and that I am ready to commit."

Flowers told 247Sports that despite being just days away from a commitment, he still hasn't set his mind as to where he will be going.

So while he deliberates until March 17th, he gave his final updated thoughts on each of the schools at hand.

Alabama: "That's the longest relationship I have. I have known coach Hodgson since the 7th grade just because my dad was working out one of his players at Buffalo. They see me as a similar type to Brandon Miller and being a great wing there. They have a great plan for me and their goal for me is to be a NBA player. Coach Oats and coach Hodgson are great people and even though I haven't visited Alabama yet, just on relationship alone that's the reason I am heavily considering them too."

Arkansas: "Coach [Eric] Musselman and the whole staff has done a great job of recruiting me. Coach [Keith] Smart, coach [Anthony] Ruta and coach Gus [Argenal] all do a great job of reaching out to me every day and talking to me. I had an official visit planned but it got postponed with everything going on at Combine and trying to win this championship. They have a great plan for me. they look at me like Anthony Black and believe I can be a point guard at my size. It's a great place and the Arkansas fans are crazy."

Creighton: "It is kind of crazy because when I announced I was making my 13, I hadn't really talked to them but I talked to them and felt like it was a good choice because of their style of play and how they are. I ended up taking a visit and loved it so that's been a solid and semi-long relationship I have built. I have been there multiple times now and coach [Greg] McDermott and coach Jaylen [Courtney-Williams] are both great people and Omaha is a great place so it is a great spot."

Kansas: "Coach Self and coach Townsend are great people. The players they have had and being at Huntington Prep, they had Andrew Wiggins who is a great wing. They have had multiple talents come out of the school and I have built a great relationship with the staff. They came down to see me at Combine multiple times now and they have been recruiting me the longest as far as the blue bloods go. I am heavily considering them right now."

Louisville: "I went there on a visit for Louisville Live and the atmosphere was crazy. It is a good place to be and I have been there multiple times and it is a great place. Coach Nolan [Smith] has been recruiting me since he was at Duke and then when he went to Louisville there was no doubt in his mind to keep recruiting me. I have also been able to build a good relationship with coach KP and the rest of the staff so it's a good place and their fans are crazy."

North Carolina: "Just moving to Combine and only being a couple hours away, that could be my future home. It's a legendary program and they have had a lot of players come out of there. They just have a great coaching staff as well. Coach Hubert [Davis], coach [Sean] May and coach [Dave] Lebo have been on me heavy since I got to North Carolina so that's a great place."

Even though he hasn't visited all of his finalists yet, Flowers does not plan on taking anymore between now and decision day.

So while he is at home and figuring out where he will go, he shared what his deciding factor will be.

"The deciding factor will be me and my family sitting down to talk and getting the opinion of my mom and dad, their opinion means the world to me, and also my bother and sister," said Flowers. "It's going to be an equal decision between everybody. If we can all find common and even ground on one school then that is the biggest thing because family is everything to me. To have them along this entire process and helping me with this decision that is the biggest thing. I want to fit a need and how I am going to be played so if you do that and everything else then you are a perfect fit for me."

Lastly, while he figures out his future home, the option to reclassify is also on the table and when asked his current status, Flowers stated that he had not given it thought yet and doesn't anticipate that being a part of his announcement come March 17th on 247Sports.
