Gary would be a devastating blow if we lost him...he has the potential to be a LOCKDOWN DEFENDER at multiple positions. He is a good rebounder right now but in due time he will be another BOLA. His offense will be alot better this season due to him finally being able to have a full off season. Those other guys on the roster aren't proven yet and Gary was one of the main reasons for our run late this season.

Either today is JD's birthday or we're getting Nimari.

The more I think about it the more I like Burnett over Gurley even though Gurley may be more beneficial for next year. There's no chance Gurley is here for more than 1 year and a realistic chance Burnett is. With JD, JQ, Primo, and Ellis all definitely gone or very likely gone after next season the potential for some continuity in the backcourt in 22-23 is really appealing. And if he's good enough next year to go pro we're going to be incredible.

Cecil wrote an article about the basketball roster and then commented that he might have to update it for tomorrow's column.

We're getting Nimari.

Lort, this may be the most talented roster we've ever had on paper. Assuming we're trading Rojas for Nimari, there isn't a player on the team that I think will be a huge dropoff when he comes in the game.

It appears Gurley is a 2020/21 academic-year senior, and therefore (per the NCAA rule granting an extra year of eligibility) he'd be a non-counter toward the 2021-22 total counters limit. If so, Rojas would be the only departure needed to take both Burnett and Gurley. But I'm not sure if that non-counter status is limited to seniors who don't transfer.

Gurley has two years of eligibility left according to a couple of different articles i've read, so he would have to count against the limit if that's the case, wouldn't he?

The latest mock draft from ESPN has Herb being drafted #56 by Charlotte with Petty going undrafted.

Gurley was a freshman in 2017-18. Did he redshirt? The NCAA web site states that 2020 "seniors" won't count toward the 2021 total limit.

He apparently redshirted his freshman season so I believe he would still count?

I'll take either him or Burnett at this point, just don't want to see Rojas on the roster this year. We have to take this rare opportunity (transfer portal being wide open) and add some additional talent.

I think Gurley was a junior though.

I also just wanted to say I'm glad I finally signed up, I've been a lurker here for a couple of years and have always really enjoyed this thread. I'm one of the rare Alabama fans that gets more excited for basketball than football, so I'm glad to have found a group to chat with during the offseason.

Yeah, looks like he took a redshirt his first season and was a RS junior this past season.

Some Florida folks on Twitter seem to like their chances with Gurley.

If they add him with Myreon Jones and get Castleton back, the Gators have to be pretty happy with that.

Based on what i've seen this morning, i'd be almost shocked if we don't get Nimari today.

Eligibility-wise he was a redshirt-junior, but he was a 4th academic-year senior.

Me too. A couple of BOL "insider" posters say we're getting Burnett. One of them also said we can take Gurley too without losing KAH or Miles, but he didn't explain how. That's partly why I think Gurley might be a non-counter for 2021-22.
