Y'all need to stop. Those barking douchebags in Athens finally got to frick Hope after getting blue balls for 42 years, but she's not even going to give Alabama basketball an unenthusiastic handy.

The new ESPN mock after the lottery show last night has JD going 48th and Keon going 49th.

Oats confirmed we're going on a foreign tour this Summer in that podcast I linked above. He didn't say when or where, but he did say we are going on one.

JD must have literally 0 confidence in his ability to play better than he did last year if he's not even going to entertain the idea of another year of college ball.

Welch checks both of the "big need" boxes for the last transfer.
Consistent/high level 3 point shooter
2019 - 36%
2020 - 37%
2021 - 39%
2022 - 37%
Long wing who is a solid defender
good steal/block/advanced numbers and being recruited by Texas Tech, which is all that really needs to be said about his ability as a team and individual defender.
Bonus is that he played at a very high mid-major level and played lots of big games against P5 teams AND comes from a program with a very solid basketball culture.
Welch and Sears would be a very successful transfer offseason. We can use the other scholarship on a flier guy or a development guy, or even a high school developmental kid that is out there.
So, because of that, I'm sure he'll announce for Texas Tech any minute now.

Still just sad that he never just took the damn bull by the horns. He could have been a 1st Team All-SEC level offensive player if he'd just been more forceful and less passive.

quote:Yeah typically JUCO players have that dog in them. He’s just really skinny and can get pushed around. I think he’ll have a solid career on the right team. Great perimeter defender 1-2, and solid spot up shooter.

Peyton Watson, Jaden Hardy, JD Davison, Max Christie NOT expected to scrimmage. Had seemingly more to gain than lose here. Maybe promises have been made but highly unlikely this early.
There will be teams are who totally turned off by these decisions to not compete. Always are.
Man, who is JD getting advice from?

College basketball way-too-early Top 25 rankings for 2022-23: UNC surges
The second edition of our way-too-early college basketball Top 25 rankings is hot off the presses. Many transfer commitments have been sorted out over the past few weeks and the list of players mulling draft decisions is beginning to slim.
quote:
13. Alabama Crimson Tide
Projected 2022-23 lineup: Mark Sears, Jaden Bradley, Brandon Miller, Noah Gurley, Charles Bediako
The 2021-22 campaign didn’t go the way Nate Oats had hoped, but the talent level in Tuscaloosa is still palpable. The nation’s No. 3 class enters, highlighted by a pair of five-stars in small forward Brandon Miller and guard Jaden Bradley. The returning frontcourt duo of Noah Gurley and Charles Bediako will also be aided by top-60 recruit Noah Clowney and JUCO transfer Nick Pringle. Keep an eye on former Texas Tech guard Nimari Burnett, a top-30 2020 product who struggled with the Red Raiders but could shine once he’s fully healthy. Ohio transfer Mark Sears could also make for one of the offseason’s top additions. He will be called upon early with Jahvon Quinerly reportedly likely to miss the start of next season due to a torn ACL.

Will someone with BOL let us know if there is anything noteworthy in here about the Welch visit?

They’ve also got a thread on Cade Phillips if anyone wants to help out us poor folks. People on Twitter seem to think Phillips isn’t a take for us.

Yeah, I think he's headed to UT.

Looking forward to the spicy hot takes if so.
Personally I think he and the Walters kid could play together, but if only one is a take I think Walters is a better fit. He's far more polished at this stage. Not as impressive of an athlete, but he's got a well rounded game.

BOL has learned St. Bonaventure transfer Dominick Welch is currently on an official visit to Tuscaloosa. He's a veteran guard orignally from Buffalo that's started 105 games at. St. B. Last season he averaged about 12 points per game and shot roughly 37 percent from three. He visited Texas Tech last week as well. Still learning more about his other finalists and where things stand but he's a name to track at this point.
We'll update him as we can.
Update from original post (5:40 pm) ... sounds like Bama is in strong position here per at least one source.

From Tim Watts on Cade Phillips:
Alabama hasn't been pushing for Phillips. I will double check but that was the latest last week.
