Take it for what you will but his (Lucas) latest follows on instagram are two apartments complexes in Nevada. Not to mention the fact that Nevada’s head of player development used to coach at his AAU organization (Compton Magic). Don’t expect bama here but would be pleasantly surprised

That info along with what Slater posted don’t make it look good for the Tide.
Didn’t want him anyways amirite?

Composite five-star guard Ja'Kobe Walter announces his top eight
The top shooting guard in the national 2023 class has announced he is down to a list of eight schools. This evening, Ja'Kobe Walter announced he will be mainly focused on Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Gonzaga, Kansas, Seton Hall, Texas, and UCLA moving forward.
"These school were the most consistent with me," Walter said. "I have talked to these head coaches the most and they have really expressed to me what they want my role to be. I never had to question where we stood."
Walter has already taken official visits to Alabama, Auburn, and Texas since the month of November. Here are the latest quotes he provided 247Sports on a handful of the programs during the initial live period weekend last month:
Alabama: “In practice I really liked the way they were shooting the ball and they like the way that I shoot it. Their message to me is that I can shoot it well and they think that their offense is the best fit for me because that’s what they do best.”
Auburn: “When I went on my visit, I liked the culture of the whole entire campus. The coaching staff I feel like they are actually telling me the truth and that they are keeping it real with me. I like what they did with Jabari Smith and I like their offensive system.”
Baylor: “You can see they had their entire staff here to see me play. They like my two-way game and they like how I can score it. They also like how intense I am on the defensive end and they really talk about how I can shoot the ball.”
Kansas: “I talk to Jeremy Case. Their past success as a blueblood stands out and they have really been good these past couple of years. They put people in the league, so I want to visit to see how the players workout and practice.”
Oklahoma: “Porter Moser, I like his mind for the game. When I went there, he took me through some film and dissected it all for me. I think that if I want to make it to the next level that I need to understand the game and that he could help me do that.”
Texas: “They come to my school all the time. They’ve come to my school the most out of everybody. Chris Beard says that I am the number one priority and that he thinks I’m the best player in the country. They let me know every time that they can build around me.”
Walter is currently the leading scorer on the Adidas 3SSB circuit averaging around 28 points per game.
Rated a five-star prospect by the industry, Walter is ranked No. 17 overall in the 247Sports Top 150 Player Rankings.

The feeling on his visit wasn't great. Not seen as a good fit by the staff.

I won't complain if he picks Bama, but he seems like a Shack clone. That's not a bad thing, but someone that is a bit more athletic while still being a good shooter is more appealing to me.

Not what we are looking for in our blue collar culture.

Fortunately Ricky Council and Mike Jones are perfect fits for our team culture, right?.....Right?

Not going to lie. Feels pretty rough to be getting beat out by a poor Nevada team that doesn't have Musselman as the head coach any more. And here I was watching all his highlights again and talking myself into thinking he's our missing piece to a championship roster

Mike Jones would make a portion of our fanbase very, very happy.

I’m going to continue to use sarcasm to hide my pain.

I'd be pretty hyped up about finally getting to victimize our opponents with a white kid who doesn't miss from 3 instead of them doing it to us.

quote:Might as well go into hibernation until the roster is set if this is what you think the scenario is. Lucas had a visit and we’ve heard nothing since except that he’s announcing tomorrow, which just so happens to be a couple days after news breaks on us prioritizing a guard from Davidson. We only have 2 spots, and Lucas is a feature player in a D1 offense.

If we cool on Jones, Lucas is the guy tomorrow, if he doesn’t commit expect Jones to join the fold. If we miss on both I’ll hop on the doom and gloom bus with you but it seems a little premature.
