Agree to disagree. Minutes just don't disappear and it didn't seem like Alabama put up much of a fight to keep him considering he decided to transfer out after Gurley opted back in.
I do agree it's hard to replace proven role players but when it comes down to it he's probably viewed as a third-string 4 and emergency 5 and that's looking at the roster right now.
He deserves more minutes somewhere else and Alabama can fill his spot with someone who fits a bit better schematically.

Bring Britton Johnson back and a lot of problems are solved.
But y’all aren’t ready for that talk

Actually, Lucas would have the ball more with an opportunity to develop point guard skills because in this offense anybody could be the point guard for example...Herb Jones, Josh Primo, JQ, John Petty, & Shack all played that role at some point in this offense.

Gary played his way out of minutes by standing around the perimeter 24/7. He started playing out of character like Gary is a Draymond Green type player and that's okay but this past season he wanted to be a Stephen Curry a little to much.

Gary was constantly injured as well. He was often seen dragging or holding his arm.

Pretty sure he was doing exactly what they asked of him.

Ricky Council IV just entered the portal from Wichita State. One of the brighter spots on a bad shocker team this year. Straight up trade for Rojas?

First off, he took 1.4 attempts per game almost all of which were corner threes and they were always wide open. He wasn't Avery Jr. out there jacking them up. Secondly, that was 100% something that was asked of him.

and Holt just committed to Georgia

Like i said when they announced they were leaving, I'd rather have Gary and Holt than the majority of the small school transfers we're likely to get.

Gary committed to a team that went 10-22 (4-16) and finished last in their conference and Holt went to a team that went 6-26 (1-17, I know I know) and finished last in their conference.
They weren't exactly hot commodities.

"Gary played his way out of minutes by standing around the perimeter 24/7."
I stand on this post here.
There were games where Gary played really good but in those games he DID NOT just hang around the perimeter all game.
If he was BLUE COLLAR GARY like last season we wouldn't be sitting here discussing why he regressed or why he transferred.

I didn't say they were going to be stars. Let's see these warm bodies we bring in to fill their spots.
I don't mean to be negative about it. I just have my doubts about transfers. I can see bringing in one, or maybe two. But, i think coaches make a mistake by letting their role players transfer, just to bring in someone of equal or lesser talent and zero chemistry with the team.
I do think we need a long, scoring wing. (Although i think we all, including me,keep forgetting about Rylan Griffen. If his 3 pt shooting gets just a little better, he can be weapon).

He didn't regress. He was injured, and he's not really a great fit for our offense. The latter is why he transferred.

Agreed, I do think that is a really good fit for Gary.
