Yea I don't feel too confident on Reeves and no shot at Bates.

And, to be frank, basically every other name we are all throwing around is just completely a guess. Bridges was really the only one other than Sears that we had anything other than "these teams reached out to the player" on - and even the "reached out" guys were pretty slim (Davis, the UCF kid, Broome).

I wonder if we'll consider recruiting Gary back out of the portal.

Doubt it. We just need to be patient because there will be somebody who will want to play in this offense.

May not have a choice. Right now we have 10 healthy players on scholarship for next year. With our long tradition of major offseason injuries to expected contributors we absolutely cannot afford to have less than 11 or 12.

I'd love to get involved with Souley Boum from UTEP

As of today he'd heard from

quote:

Xavier
Kansas State
San Diego State
Mississippi State
TCU
Gonzaga
Texas Tech
Texas
Iowa State
Ole Miss
Missouri
Colorado St
Arizona
Cal
BYU

37% 3PT shooter, 84% FT shooter, very high steal rate, very low turnover rate, gets the the line a lot

19.8 PPG

Souley Boum - UTEP

I am a Gary Stan, but I believe we should. Especially since his role is completely unfilled at the moment.

Agreed. We can’t have an Anthony Grant roster ever again.

Has KJ Williams from Murray State been linked with anyone yet? He's been in the portal a while and I haven't seen much. Considering his teammates already decided to go to LSU I wonder if that means he's holding out and doing something else?

That guy would pretty clearly fit. Athletic 6-10 who runs pick and roll stuff, great rebounder, shoots 30% from 3, 70% from FT. Active defender.

EDIT - Add him to the list of guys above who declared for the draft and entered the portal. Guessing those guys are going to be holdouts on figuring out visits and stuff, so kind of a 2nd wave of transfer portal stuff.

Unfortunately it seems like a lot of the guys who would be our best Plan B options now that we've missed out of Bridges are all going to wait til after the combine or draft to start making decisions. Means we're probably not going to know what the final makeup of our team will be til what July at the earliest?

West Virginia transfer Jalen Bridges has committed to Baylor. Bridges, a 6’7” sophomore averaged 8.4 points, and 4.8 rebounds this season.
oof… so much for my take. That’s a huge miss on basically our main guy. I trust Oats to get some talent, but damn that sucks the big one

Yeah, looks like coaches are being very hesitant regarding some of those guys until there is more certainty. Seems to be quiet for a bunch of the bigger names.

I'd guess there is a little bit of a lull for the next week or two and then guys get feedback, pull out of draft and turn to setting up visits and stuff sometime in Mid-May.

Well that’s a big whiff. There better be solid backup options in the portal or this roster is going to be crazy thin in depth and experience next year.

Transfer portal always open so there are always emerging talents.

Emoni Bates just became available so anything is possible in the future lol.

Yep - bunch of those guys who are in the portal and draft who haven't been active at all in terms of portal stuff (which makes sense).

I've been saying...there will be guys who back out of the draft and hit the transfer portal so there's no need to worry yet.

Did we miss on a guy or two? Sure

I'm on edge just like you guys are but at the same time shoot I want a guy who wants to be here similar to Bruner.

Yeah this reminds me of his first cycle when we missed on Burnett and Nix and though the sky was falling. We had convinced ourselves Bridges was the guy so it’s disappointing for sure, but not the end of the world

Definitely not the end of the world. Bridges would have been a really nice fit, but there are other options out there. We'll see how it plays out.

Amir-Dawes from Clemson is visiting Georgia this weekend.

40% 3PT shooter, 85% FT shooter

Another guy I'd really like to see us inquire about to fill the Shack role.
