I wonder if we knew Q was going to stay if we wouldve went a different route in the portal. I guess you can never have enough ball handlers but id rather us add a shooter or a big.

I mean I've watched him play full games at IMG against teams like Oak Hill and none of this was applicable.
He won't be standing in the corner because he'll be running the show like he did in every real game he played in high school. He was the most engaged guy on the floor on both ends of basically every IMG game I saw him play in.
So I dunno what the ASG deal was, but that doesn't sound like the kid from the last 2 seasons at IMG at all.

At best he’d be able to play in January right? He probably still wouldn’t be fully healed or in game shape. I don’t see it being beneficial for him or us.

They've known Q was staying for at least 2 weeks now (not rumor, confirmed).

Me either. 9 months is usually a best case scenario with an ACL tear, but with how much he relies on quickness and change of direction I don't see him being comfortable on it until next spring or summer. It also wouldn't surprise me if we're only getting minimal mutual interest from portal guys. We have a lot incoming talent in terms of both quantity and quality and zero indication of how minutes are going to shake out next season. I love our recruiting class, but we probably signed 1 or 2 too many to be able to really kill it in the portal. You can't play 12-13 guys.

Brandon Miller & Jaden Bradley will be ready to go Day 1!

Keep your eyes open. JQ has a lot of SEC experience winning. Should not discount that.

Truth and that's why I'm not too concerned about JQ. If he can return and help us down the stretch that's great. But if he just occupies the roster spot that Tchikou was filling last year, there is no loss.
I think all the other guys on the roster are ready to roll. But your point stands that you can't really play 12-13 guys. We've gotta hope we don't run into injury problems but that is every team every year.
Gotta think the following guys are in line for good minutes:
Bediako
Gurley
Miles
Burnett
Bradley
Miller
Sears
Then we have Clowney, Griffin, and Pringle coming in who might get minutes or might be toward the end of the bench. Personally I think Pringle will get some good minutes. But at least 1 out of these 3 should be getting some decent PT.
Throw in two portal guys who are ready to play and that makes 10.

I’m strictly talking about his health
Posted on 4/16/22 at 1:37 pm to SECSolomonGrundy
I kind of agree there. If you feel like you can afford a roster spot having Q possibily healthy and ready to provide something for even 10-15 minutes a night in mid/late February could be massive.
But you have to be ok with the fact that maybe he's not healed and doesn't play at all, or is just limited to playing off ball and shooting jumpers.

Watch miller play in a REAL game from amy of his high school tapes and then tell me hes laid back lol. Some need to educate themselves on difference between an all star game where u see everyone for themself and a game that matters. On top of that hes a 5 star and a bama legacy. Playing here is gonna mean something to him. Youd think people would be happy to get a guy with his skill level ... And he is skilled, not just an athlete

Please go do the research on our recruits!
Brandon Miller has that "Mamba Mentality" hence his jersey number (24) so I am begging you to go and watch his games against tough competition and you will see what everybody already know matter of fact just go look up the McDonald's All American Game practice reports concerning Brandon Miller.
Jaden Bradley is the most unselfish player in the country though. Dude has a great feel for the game.

Yea high school where he can dominate. Cant dominate the guys with talent just like yours. You can make excuses but those All American games mean something to those kids. Dont know why he would be the only one who didnt play serious. Never said im not happy that he is coming here. Just said he wont be what people expect. No different from when John Petty was a five star. Year after year the kids who dominate in those games or make any noise are the really good kids. So maybe you should educate yourself and get out of your feelings.

This is the real question. If the rest of the roster is structured in a way that isn't going to leave us saying "we really need JQ to get healthy" after 10 games then I agree that using a roster spot on a guy who has like a 25% chance of contributing during conference and postseason play is much smarter than using it on someone like Tchikou or KAH who gives you a 0% chance of doing much of anything.

He played at IMG and probably played the toughest high school basketball schedule in the country. He's been playing with and against the majority of the kids at those AA games for years.
This isn't JD from a AA Alabama high school.
Doesn't mean he'll be good next year, but the transition for him won't be wide eyed at the game being fast or the talent being elite.

Late January or early February will be around the time I think he would be fully ready.
Posted on 4/16/22 at 1:48 pm to SummerOfGeorge
Brandon Miller is who he's talking about SOG unless I missed something.
Posted on 4/16/22 at 1:48 pm to Joka2kold
Ah, well, I'm an idiot.
Carry on
Carry on

And again i never said he wont be good. Just think he needs to be more aggressive as Bradley Beal said at the game.
