Unless something has changed since the article about him the other day he doesn't have a pro offer in hand.

I know depth is key in most sports but I might be in the minority in thinking we need to shrink our rotation in the future. Legit depth can create issues for the opponent but it seems like most teams that go on a run in the tourney play 7 guys. These teams know how to play as a unit and understand how to play their game their way.

Obviously if you have 9-10 guys that can ball then you are going to find a way to play them but I just think it can hurt chemistry in March.

Find your best 5 guys. Go 2-3 deep off the bench and let that group gel.

Big: Bediako, Gurley, Gary, Clowney, Pringle

Knowing that Oats likes to spread the court with everyone capable of shooting the three, where do the threes come from in this group?

Bediako attempted one 3pt this season
Gurley made 18 all year and shot 25%
Gary made 9 and shot 22%
Pringle was 5/26 from 3pt this season
I guess it's got to be Clowney but he's awfully thin and not sure how much 5 he would play.

I'm not trying to be negative. I'm just trying to figure out the plan. Maybe hoping that Gurley shoots better at the five or just have four guys on the court that can hit it and one big guy setting screens? We don't use a traditional post on offense. Outside of Clowney, we've got 4 guys on this list whose strength would all be in the lane.

Really? I thought I had read somewhere he preferred to go Pro.

You bank on Gurley going back up to his career average. Have to at this point.

I hope so and hope he can play a lot. When a 5 can't shoot it and is setting the high screen, his defender (if he has any intelligence) will sag the lane and double up the dribble drive every time. We saw that a lot with Bediako on the court.

I'd prefer to make $10 million a year, but no one has offered it to me yet.

Seriously though, I got the impression that he has little interest in college and wants to go pro, but he also qualified it by saying it'd be something he'd seriously consider if the G-League makes him an offer.

A bigger rotation is a benefit to have in the regular season because of potential injuries and being able to limit the wear and tear throughout the months but yeah I totally agree. It would be nice that when we get to March we have a set 8 man rotation.

Hell Villanova barely has a bench at this point and they're in the Final Four.

Lot of talent in the former four-star.

Yeah, paring down a 10+ man November and December rotation to a 7 or 8 man March rotation is pretty key and a mistake I think our staff made this year. They spent too long trying to find lineups that would click instead of just saying to hell with it and rolling with the 7 or 8 guys they thought would give us the best chance to win and hoping for the best.

JQ edited his IG post where he said the ND game was his last college game. It no longer says that.

Interestingly, their tallest player getting any significant minutes is 6'8".

Interesting - wonder how quickly he'd be able to return from a torn ACL. It took Rojas 6 months to return to a game, which would put JQ back in time for practices to start you'd think (September). And of course Rojas is a little less reliant on cuts and quick movements than JQ is, so that would be something to consider.

Aside from the fact that they play at a Grantball pace, I love everything about how Villanova operates. Smaller, versatile lineups where they can switch on everything, lots of shooters, multiple playmakers. They play really, really high level basketball.

We roll next year with Q and Shack in the backcourt again and we've got problems. We'll struggle defensively again and you can forget pulling Sears or Jaelin.

Might be unpopular, but I thought we all agreed that we needed some real roster changes after how the season ended.

Wright is the best. Their entire operation is so top notch, so professional and so savvy. Every year, new guys, same level headed, smart, competitive Villanova team.

I heard one of the basketball guys on a podcast say that NBA scouts always marvel at how much better all the Villanova guys footwork is when they go to NBA camps and combines than anybody else in the country. Bigs, guards, everybody. They teach them how to use their bodies and pivots and angles better than anybody in the country.

We could be just like them with some roster adjustments. We have a real opportunity this off season, but don't know that we are going to do enough.

If it came down to Sears or JQ, you gotta take Sears and it’s not even close

They're basically a likeable version of Duke to me. Not in style, but just in terms of how consistent and incredibly well coached they are. You hardly ever see them do stupid shite. I can only hope we're close to that level one day.
