Noah Clowney, 2022 four-star, commits to Alabama
Noah Clowney, a 6-foot-9 power forward out of Roebuck (S.C.) Dorman has committed to Alabama basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.
Clowney joins five-stars Brandon Miller and Jaden Bradley. Alabama is also targeting Rylan Griffen, Jarace Walker, Ty Rodgers, and Kimani Hamilton.
Noah Clowney ultimately chose the Crimson Tide over Indiana and Virginia Tech. He also received offers from Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson, amongst others.
The decision was a tough one
“Initially going into the (Alabama visit), honestly, I had the least amount of thought that I would go to Bama,” Clowney said. “I didn’t think I was going to Bama, going into the visit. So I get there and they showed me a lot that I didn’t see before. The visit itself was really good but I wasn’t going to just let the visit persuade me into going. So I took a couple of days to think about it. So I ended up thinking about it for a long time and was like ‘okay, I really like it.’ So I did a whole lot of research. I contacted a lot of previous players…I watched four full Alabama games from top to bottom. I watched how they used previous people that were similar to me. So for a long time, I kept going back and forth between Indiana, VT, and Alabama…just going back and forth and couldn’t decide. I decided Alabama felt the most comfortable. Finally, I was like ‘yeah, I’m going to Alabama.”
What does Clowney expect his role to be?
“I think I’ll get a lot of minutes early,” Clowney said. “They play fast and that’s what I like about it. I feel like scoring the ball is one thing, but scoring the ball the way the pros want to see it scored…. showcasing certain abilities, I feel like I can showcase a lot there. I’ll probably do a lot of pick-and-pop threes…in transition, I’ll look great because I like to run. I like the half-court sets. We’ll do a lot of spots where I’ll get the ball from the high post, with a lot of action going on around me and just making the right plays. Coach Oats likes to let them play, and he gives them a lot of freedom but it’s like restrictive freedom. He wants everybody to shoot the ball when they feel comfortable…they shoot a lot but they play fast so they get a lot of shots up so that’s what I like. I feel like I can help them a lot, and with their skill development, I think they can help me a lot.”

Commitment breakdown: Noah Clowney picks Alabama
Alabama hit the daily double on Monday, as Nate Oats and his staff were able to secure two commitments ranked inside the top 50. The day's second pledge came from four-star power forward Noah Clowney.
“It’s a good playing style and it’s a real nice place,” Clowney told Rivals.com following his official visit to Alabama last weekend. “I like the way that I would play in their system. Overall, it was a great visit.”
Clowney joins five-star small forward Brandon Miller, who committed to Alabama early Monday afternoon, on the Bama commitment list. The Crimson Tide also hold a commitment from Jaden Bradley, the No. 25 overall prospect in the 2022 class.
Indiana and Virginia Tech were the other finalists for Clowney. Florida also received an official visit from the four-star prospect before being cut from the list.
WHAT IS ALABAMA GETTING?:
Clowney was one of the major stock risers of the most recent travel season and attracted scholarship offers from programs all over the country. At 6-foot-10 and around 215 pounds now, he’s a really good athlete and pretty skilled as well. He can make shots from three-point range. He’s comfortable putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket. And most importantly for a prospect his size, he has really good hands and soft touch around the basket. With a little strength and weight added to his frame, he could be a dominant force in the SEC.
WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE CRIMSON TIDE:
A third commitment inside the top 50 in the 2022 Rivals150 pretty much seals the deal on Alabama finishing with a top 10 class. The Crimson Tide remain in the mix for other highly ranked prospects such as Jarace Walker and Rylan Griffen as well, which would only boost that ranking even higher. Coming off a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and an appearance in the Sweet 16, it doesn’t appear that Alabama will be cooling off any time soon.

2022 four-star forward Noah Clowney commits to Alabama
Noah Clowney, the No. 62 overall prospect in the 2022 class, has committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide, he tells 247Sports.
Clowney is Alabama's second commitment on Monday afternoon following the decision of 2022 five-star prospect Brandon Miller.
"I really like the play-style, I think I fit into it well," Clowney said of why he chose Alabama. "I just trust they're going to develop me how I need to be developed. I think I can showcase a lot in the offense for me to get to the next level. It's a great place."
The 6-foot-9, 205-pound power forward out of Roebuck (S.C.) Dorman committed to Nate Oat's program over his other two finalists in Indiana and Virginia Tech.
"I think I am going in and making an impact from day one," Clowney said of what he brings to the program. "I think I just got that dog instilled in me from always being unranked until about six months ago. I think I'm going in on day one and making an impact and I am going to do everything I can. It's going to be earned but I am going to make an impact from day one."
Alabama offered Clowney this past summer and have quickly developed a strong relationship with the four-star recruit.
"Me and [Antoine] Pettway are very tight," he said. "[Nate] Oats is very genuine, the same as Pettway, I would trust them with everything."
Clowney took his final official visit to Alabama in late October and several aspects of the program stood out to him while on campus.
"All visits are designed to be good so I always have fun when I am there but things that stood out there were things outside of basketball," he said. "As far as skill development, they don't force the bigs into like doing just post moves on one end. The coaching staff is invested in their players, truly. I do love the dorms there, great dorms. It's a lot, they got great facilities and injury prevention. There's a lot of good."
Clowney is Alabama's third commitment in the 2022 class joining five-star prospects Brandon Miller and Jaden Bradley.

That sucks - can't get them all I guess. This is still going to be an incredible class.
