Yeah, I just meant that he would've been a great plan b if we do miss on Bradley. Seems like Starling might end up at Duke.

Big man Jarace Walker is now one of the three best available players in the class of 2022 nationally. The manchild from IMG Academy is one of the most important players to land in the class and his plug and play potential is enormous. LSU has been a player here for a while and the Tigers will have a chance to wow him this weekend as he makes his way to Baton Rouge. Four other schools will also have a crack at it - Alabama, Auburn, Texas and Houston.

Has anyone taken the plunge on an On3+ membership yet? Just curious how much coverage they are giving to basketball recruiting.

Their NCAA situation is also far from resolved. Granted, it's looking more and more like the NCAA isn't going to actually do much of anything but who knows.

Recruiting is a dirty business and you never know what is going on behind closed doors, but losing a kid like Bradley to a program that's a dumpster fire right now would be a failure on our part.

We’re going to need a PG or two for next year’s team because I don’t see JD coming back no matter what and I’d expect JQ to be gone as well. Maybe a stud PG will want to transfer in after the season?

That's what'll happen if Bradley goes to Arizona. There were some very good PGs in the portal. I expect you'll see other great PGs next year, that want to win and get more exposure.

But looking at the list of guys we're after, we better get used to some heartbreak. Bball recruiting is fierce and dirty. When swinging for the fences, you will strike out more. But I love seeing Oats going after elite talent. Because now, like football, we're becoming a prized offer to receive. We seem to be in almost everyone's top 5. So expect more misses. But we're also pulling in elite talent on a consistent level like I've never seen at Bama.

yep, and in general ive become way too spoiled over the years to ever really worry about our pg situation. shoveling out pg studs is what bama does (while bathing in auburn blood. one magical midget and a bbq rented fill in for half a year doesnt make up the difference). been watching since the mo days. bamas gotta be in the top 10 of pg studs the past 20 or so years. mo, pettway, steele, releford, sexton, kira, and now jq/jd is one hell of a resume for any program. we had one or two dud years because lacey wussed out, but thats about it.
yes, general heartbreak is to be expected when shooting for the moon every year, but hell will most certainly freeze over before our current staff lets that long standing bama stud pg tradition flake out anytime soon, dream tier recruits or not.

The gap from 1 and 2 is larger than the gap from 2 and 22.

I'm really glad the hoops recruiting is also in this thread. I see it much more fwiw and that's not usually something I watch like some of you.

Our schedule is so damn hard. Wow. There's going to be some melting this year. We were 4-3 last year, still crazy to think about.

I hope the players know how much that meant to all the fans.

We do normally have separate threads when the season starts, but we can see what everyone wants this year. I doubt mistaken is going to want to mess with what we had last year though.

Houston got a commitment from Terrance Arceneaux tonight. He is a SF and the #40 overall player in the country. Not sure if that means anything at all in regards to Jarace Walker though.

so no surprise were expected to have by far the hardest schedule. struggles expected but by tourney time well be ready for anything.
texas stuck out as interesting being bottom tier when theyre playing zaga, tenn, and then wildcard types in stanford and seton hall. guess their mid major opponents are all expected to be the lowest of the low with every win by 40. one could say the NET saw right through the trickery of beards 4d chess attempt there.
interesting stuff to go over, much appreciated.

We gotta do everything the exact same as last year. Chad starts the Season thread and this becomes the recruiting thread. Chad has to start it...NOT BAMAFAN!! He is a Jinx. We can’t change or do anything differently.....it will jinx us.

It's a lot of "work" at times, but I genuinely enjoy it. It's a good break from the "real world" and this is a very exciting time for Alabama basketball. The wife does make fun of me for it sometimes and says i'm obsessed.

I like that the rest of you partake in the masochism that is Alabama basketball with me. I've been on this site for ten years and almost all of the "regulars" of the basketball threads are still around. Let's hope we're in the beginning of a golden age for Alabama basketball.

I actually did. I think it was like $10/year. It's not too bad. No real scoops in basketball, that I've noticed. I usually already know about it by the time they've written about it.

Though I will say, I keep forgetting about it, and haven't visited it very often.

I’m sure we will end up with a great class but it sucks about Bradley. Seems we led the whole way with him and Arizona of all teams just scoops him up at the end.

Yeah, and Bradley is a great fit. It wasn't that long ago that it seemed like he was all ours. It doesn't seem like we are in on any other PGs from this class, and while I know Nick Smith is listed as a combo guard, he's definitely more of a smaller 2-guard. Fortunately, our name does carry a bit more weight now, so a stud PG transfer is certainly in the cards, but I would have liked to have landed at least one PG before getting to that point.
