No, he's not decided on staying in the Draft or not. If he comes back it'll be at Vanderbilt.

Pretty sure he's only got a couple hours to make a decision.

Goodman has us 13th

quote:

13. Alabama
Gone: G *Jaden Shackelford (Transferred, Soph., 14.0 ppg), SG *John Petty Jr. (Sr., 12.6 ppg), F *Herbert Jones (Sr., 11.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg), G *Josh Primo (NBA, Fr., 8.1 ppg), C *Jordan Bruner (Sr., 5.6 ppg), F Alex Reese (Sr., 5.4 ppg)
Back: PG Jahvon Quinerly (Soph., 12.9 ppg), SG Keon Ellis (Jr., 5.5 ppg), F Juwan Gary (RS Fr., 3.8 ppg), PF James Rojas (Jr., 2.9 ppg), F Darius Miles (Fr., 2.2 ppg), F Keon Ambrose-Hylton (Fr., 1.1 ppg), PF Alex Tchikou (Fr.)
Add: PG JD Davison (No. 9), C Charles Bediako (No. 26), SF Jusaun Holt
Transfer Add: G Nimari Burnett (Texas Tech, Fr., 5.3 ppg), F Noah Gurley (Furman, Jr., 15.4 ppg)

Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide will definitely look different next year, but they still return enough key pieces from a team that won the SEC regular-season title and tournament. Oats will need Quinerly to be an all-league point guard, and Davison to make a major impact as a frosh. He has also added a couple of transfers in Burnett and Gurley who will help.

I’m ready for the season. Let’s add a quality transfer and start playing. How long do transfers have to make a decision???? It has to be before the fall semester starts, right?

I think people are still sleeping on Keon.

I feel like he is a special player. Jimmy Butler is the easy comparison of NBA guys and we all hope he becomes even half that. But just in reference to former Alabama players, im having a hard time with a good comparison. He's not Rod Grizzard and he's not Gerald Wallace. I can't really recall a lot of guys with his skillset.

I agree, I think Ellis will be one of the best guards in the SEC.

I think

JQ
JD
Burnett
Ellis
Gurley

could be one of the top 10 starting lineups in the country, if Tchikou is healthy putting him and the 5 and Gurley at the 4 could be just as good if not better.

Guard depth my only concern, last year we had a really good 6 guard rotation, we need two more guards to step up and contribute a lot, between Miles, Holt, and Gary I am optimistic. If we can get another good guard out of the portal that would alleviate the concern.

I am not worried about Burnett at all, the talent is there, I think he has a strong bounce back season similar to how Quinerly did last year.

I don’t consider Petty a guard, nor do I consider Herb a guard. They both handled the ball, but I was never confident with Petty handling the ball

Darius Miles is gonna have a great season. I’m telling y’all. He will be this years Keon Ellis.

I think Holt has a Shack like impact as a Freshman.

Lets get Cockburn and play Tchikou as a 3/4 and lets ride

I kind of feel that way about Gary, he isnt a good dribbler or shooter, and when he got most of his playing time last year it was as a F. I do like Gary a lot, and am excited to see what he can do this year hopefully 100% healthy. He brings some things to the table that are different than what our other guards do. I like his toughness, defense, and rebounding a lot, whatever he can add offensively is a plus.

Gary is the last schlorship player left on the roster that was an Avery recruit.

Gary isn’t a ball handler or a shooter. He’s defense and a rebounder. I hope he’s gotten a little better offensively, but I can handle defense and hustle. Herb and Petty were asked to handle the ball. As far as I’ve seen, Gary hasn’t been told to do that, nor would I want him to. Just like I didn’t want Petty to handle the ball.

Yeah Petty for sure wasn't a good ball handler.

He tried, and I give him tons and tons of credit for hustling his arse off his last two years, but, ball handling is his weakness. If he can somehow work on that, he’ll be in the NBA. Herb has defense, and was a little better ball handler, but just struggles shooting. Both guys will make money in Europe, but I’d sure like to see them in the NBA one day.

I was with you through this part.

Oats isn't gonna abandon his guard heavy fast-paced offense and all of the sudden go with an old school 3 bigs on the floor at a time offense. We are already loaded with guys that can play forward, Gurley, Bediako, Tchikou, Gary, Rojas, KAH, that's almost half the roster already that plays mainly forward. We need another guard.
