29. Josh Primo, Alabama
18.6 years old | Guard | 6-6 | 190 lbs
This is a bit of a wildcard pick based largely on the upside. Alabama’s Josh Primo is one of the youngest players in the draft class, is coming off an underrated freshman season, and projects as the type of 3-and-D player coveted across the NBA. Context needs to be supplied to evaluate Primo truly. His numbers of 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game do not pop off the computer screen, but he was a solid contributor for a very experienced Alabama team. Primo even launched into starting 19 games for the Crimson Tide, who landed a No. 2 seed at the Big Dance. He is a quality defender and connected on 38.1 percent of his three-pointers as a freshman. Primo boasts a plus wingspan and is a project wing worth taking a shot on. He isn’t a Top 30 player in this draft right this moment (in terms of being NBA-ready), but he could be in a few years; he is loaded with untapped potential and will only be 18 when selected.

So this was just posted about Shack on Rivals by Jordan Harper..who is as about as reliable as it gets outside of actually being a part of the program
I feel a little better. HIS opinion, not mine

I’ve seen the rumors of him transferring, but I have not confirmed them as being true or not. Seems false to me, but I know his dad is very influential and I’m sure he would like him close to home. My personal opinion is he comes back to Bama right now. I think he transfers or comes back, but not go pro

The explanation for his potential transfer being playing time struck me as a bit odd, so while I'll never rule anything out on that front these days I will say it'd surprise me if he bailed. We're basically going to have a 4 guard rotation between JQ, JD, Shack, and Burnett but we also play a lot of 3 guard lineups so he's most likely still going to play 25-27 minutes even with our backcourt depth improving. The only way I could see his playing time evaporate is if the lightbulb suddenly comes on for Miles and Oats decides to play him like a point forward the way he did with Herb. That would dramatically alter our rotations and lineup flexibility.

This has been stated earlier but I just hate the delay in doing something. We could have recruited a useful piece.

If Primo AND Shack are gone, that changes everything about next season. Expectations WAY down.

We picked up a Futurecast for 5* Jaden Bradley
Imagine if Oats gets him to reclass.....Holy shite(no rumors of that happening, just my dreams)

Nah, we are still a top 25 team if both leave. I felt we were Final 4 caliber with both back and if we at least get Shack back we will still be Elite 8 caliber.

Shack has gone on the record in the past and said he grew up a big UCLA fan. Wonder if he thought/thinks he could step right into the Juzang role if Juzang goes pro?

He played like a UCLA fan when we played them

The 22 class could be special. If we just get Bradley and Brandon Miller it would be epic but also Shaedon Sharpe and Rodney Rice...and I almost forgot Nick Smith. All are 5* and we have a legit chance with all of them

If the rumor is true he may be waiting to see what Juzang does before he decides.
If Juzang comes back then UCLA returns all their guards, including Chris Smith who was one of their best guards and was out of the tournament with a season ending injury.
Hard to see Shack getting as much PT there as he would at Alabama, especially if Juzang comes back. I am pretty sure he lead our team in shots taken last year and probably will again this year.

I am not here regularly. Can someone tell me if LSU skated their pay for play scandal?

The NCAA isn't going to do anything to anybody at this point.

Yet, they can send the State team home for COVID tests. Maybe, they can tie COVID into the LSU scandal.

LSU seems more likely to have a herpes outbreak than covid.
