We would be a top 20ish team at best, only bright side is bulk of team would return except for point guards in the season afterwards.

It's frustrating when top talent have options and I say that as someone who believes in free market capitalism. That's why I think a program like Wisconsin is built for times like this. They know their role/system and recruit accordingly, 4-5 stars be damn.

If he stays in the draft after his freshman year in order to go 38th overall he just had no desire to be in college for a day longer than he had to be. Because that's a fricking moronic career move on his part.

Is it...

Michigan State forward Xavier Tillman, the 35th overall pick in the NBA draft, signed a four-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, which is reportedly one of the largest ever for a second-round pick.

According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, Tillman will receive $4.6 million guaranteed on the contract. That figure ranks just behind the $4.7 million that Atlanta Hawks forward Bruno Fernando received last year as the most guaranteed money for a second-round pick that played in the NBA right after the draft.

And looking up the last 1st round pick last year, they are guaranteed 5.9 million over 3. So it's not exactly league minimum. Then again, the number 38 last year signed a 2 way contract.

Yeah but what do lottery picks make? Because if he
is just patient and comes back 1 more year he is guaranteed to be a Lottery pick IMO.

He can also legally make money during his year here now.

I’m not mad about Primo, Can’t fault a guy for trying the NBA. But idk WTF Shack is thinking if he doesnt come back.

The frustrating part is if Oats knew they were leaving sooner he could have gotten 2 more top tier transfers. Shack is kind of fricking us over

Wisconsin is currently in the midst of a player revolt against their coach, or was during last season.

I think our recruiting strategy is pretty damn good.

I don’t think the Hawks are gonna win this one, George

Yes. It absolutely is. Because he's an 18 year old freshman who is qualified for the draft by like 2 weeks, so he'd be selling at the bottom of his own market. Most of the top half of the second round will get some sort of guaranteed contract but it's usually for league minimum or maybe a little more than that. Compared to say the ~20th overall pick, who is 100% guaranteed something around $7.5-8 million over his first 3 years. If a team is willing to take him in the top 40 based on nothing more than potential all it would take to make him a borderline lottery pick next summer is a decent sophomore season in an expanded role.

I'm pretty sure Oats has a better defined system than any other coach we've seen at Bama in ages. Thing is, top players want to play in it. And Wisconsin? You mean there football team? Pretty sure their basketball or football team would love some 5 stars. But obviously, talent just fit regardless of what system you run.

That was the ugliest quarter of Hawks basketball I've seen since the first year of the rebuild. Yuck.

A split works, though.

It'll pass. Those seniors are frustrated b/c Greg Gard isn't the nice guy he was as an assistant coach. You kinda have to be a hard azz when you're in the big chair.

Wisconsin's been to at least three final fours, I would kill for that.

He was never their assistant coach. He's been the HC for 6 years.

I don’t mind losing Shack. I believe we have a replacement for him. Sounds shitty, but it’s just the truth. Q will play point and I believe that JD will play Shack’s spot. Shack would have given quality depth, but we don’t know how he would have responded

Gard recruited all those kids. He's been there since 2016.

Yeah, I just read an ESPN article about secret recordings from an inside meeting. Seems like it is going to get worse before it gets better.

The Milwaukee (or maybe Madison) paper article has a long account and the actual recordings. It sounded like quite a disaster.
