Alabama basketball has added former Creighton guard Marcus Zegarowski as a grad assistant.

He was a 2-time All-American at Creighton, and was recruited there by now-Alabama assistant Preston Murphy.

Was drafted in the second round in 2021 and most recently played in Belgium.

Just saw that he only has 1 year left. Hope Coach sees something past the obvious.

Williamson almost certainly going to be better than Wague in 2023-2024.

Still think this group at the 5 is not the worst off we've been under Oats.

If Williams can give oats 15 to 20 minutes and score 8 and 5 , he will be worth it . Aiden is going to be really good, he will surprise a lot of people this year . If we had one more big our roster would be top tier.

frickin Wague. Started out looking like he could see the floor regularly. Probably had the best handles of the bigs. He's even brought it up the court a few times and didn't look uncomfortable.

Turned out to be garbage. As a player and a person. After like the third stomp attempt, I was done with him.

Having 3 centers is a luxury in college basketball. My hunch is the staff thinks one of the freshmen is going to give enough quality minutes at PF that they're fine. However, if we could find another C/F type that is 5 fouls and not a liability then you'd take it.

Here's a bit of a crazy thing to read...

quote:

Spanish shooting guard Ruben Dominguez has committed to Texas A&M, he told On3.

The 6-foot-6, 22-year-old most recently played for Bilbao Basket in the Liga Endesa, the top pro basketball league in Spain.

Known for being an elite shooter, Dominguez shot 41.5% from three this season, while averging 6.6 points per game. He will bring four years of pro experience to Bucky Ball and is expected to make an immediate impact for the program.

That was somewhere on on3. It's just wild to read about schools are bringing in guys with 4 years of La Liga experience.

And Bucky must have a helluva budget. He's brought in a bunch of talent. For them to go from Buzz Ball to Bucky Ball is like doing a 540°.

Bama will be a lot better defensively than they were last season.

Philon
Bol Bowen
Bristow
Allen
Mallette

Will all be big reasons why.

Play much harder on defense, all the length helps as well. We need another 5, not sure Williamson can play in the sec. Could be wrong but i don’t see it

Intel from practice. We either need another 5 or we gotta use TBB like we did Grant.

bristow could play some small ball 5 as well. i remember some pointing out similarities he had with jarin but i see him more as a more athletic gurley type with hopefully a more consistent 3 ball. that said, an extra big to solidify the depth would still be nice.

Not many teams will, but I don’t think this team has the size or strength to matchup with a team like FL. Aiden has both, but he is prone to foul trouble.

Our back court is bigger and stronger on defense, but our front court is definitely weaker than last year. I think we are going to struggle once again against physical teams. 2023 was really the only time we had the size and physicality to matchup with physical teams, although 2021 we could hold our own due to Herb. This team’s front court is a whole lot more like 2021 than 2023 (or even last year). Hopefully the improved perimeter will make up for a lot of the front court weaknesses.

Lost those Florida games as much due to our guards not being able to stay in front of their guards as anything else.

sherrells issues came from adjusting to the pace of the game. the hope is as a sophomore he would be more acclamated as is usually the case when talented freshman head into their next season.
yea theres no herb but this team also has more athleticism, size, and length in general than that one did. petty and primo were very good defenders but not great athletes. jq was the only pg defender oat's has had with a negative dbpm. love reese but he couldnt even dunk. still too soon for me to talk about bruner and shack tried but lol. also what about the 23-24 team?
yes, even if the frontcourt turns out to be a bit thin compared to bruiser teams like florida the backcourt is more than capable of potentially making up for it. we can still have a very good to great defense without being an elite rebounding team and added with what our offense could be then it becomes quite possible that some of those teams will be forced to adjust to what bamas doing, you know? either way i think most looking at this roster now that philons back can agree the talent level is off the charts and i for one cant wait to see what that oats guy cooks up with it.

Yep. Teams with big, athletic, and skilled guards whipped us. Now we’re more athletic and longer. The biggest question now is whether the guys we lost are better ball players than what we have now and by how much

?

We played the nation’s two premier caveman basketball teams last year. Beat one and lost on a half court buzzer beater to the other
