In a vacuum, sure. Knowing they’ll get replaced by solid talent, nah I’m not gonna melt like a little bitch.

That's another tough loss.

It is what it is but they all are wanting more money. Nature of the beast these days. Last years squad being contender probably helped Nate out.

That core group is gone and roster needs some work. This transition is crucial to maintaining the success he's built. Hopefully he can find some replacements and not take a big step back.

Send some feelers to Asa Newell camp. Make the trade

Nm see he declared

Frontcourt lost Nelson, Cliff, Stevenson, Reid, Mo, and Naas. Hell we even lost Max. The only returning minutes is Sherrell. If you think that's not a problem you're a fricking idiot.

That’s why they got two starters out of the portal.

Yeah, last time that happened we only *checks notes* went to our first Final Four.

We seem to be going after this guy. No.1 in 3-pointers made last year @38%.
His brother is going to be at Awbarn, I believe.

Without Philon and Reid and all the rest we have lost, our team will be unrecognizable next season. We may or may not make the tourney.

Looking at the Reid situation it makes me wonder why he even came to Alabama?
Signs with us , gets hurt doesn’t do much of anything for the year and decides to leave?
So it wasn’t about Oats, the style of play, success of program , of future NCAA wins or the appeal of the University, commitment to fellow teammates. If it was a matter of a few more dollars we would’ve probably met his demand. So why the heck?

He's already committed to Kansas St. But here's his 247 scouting report.

Abdi Bashir might be a specialist, but he's got a burner. He made a whopping 127 3-pointers this year, including 10 triples in a game against Rutgers. The 6-foot-7 sophomore guard is always hunting that 3-ball. But when he's not making 3s, it can get a bit hairy. Bashir is not an impactful defender, and he shot just 40% at the rim in halfcourt scenarios. He's rail thin (160 pounds) which could lead to some issues at the high-major ranks.

Next season was always going to be a step back. It was inevitable. Nate will fill the roster with quality players. But next year will be a work in progress especially early. I think Philon is key. You pretty much have to meet his number and bring him back.

I think we could afford to lose Mo or Reid but to lose both will have an impact athletically.

We lost our entire starting front court and 3 of our 4 top reserves, that’s going to be felt.

We need a rim protector, some athleticism and frankly depth or this season will be a struggle.

The lack of faith in the program Oats has built is baffling. People should look at what the 3 that left via the portal actually accomplished on the court combined. Their production can be replaced. They have potential but what they did isn’t a high standard. Kentucky literally replaced every player from the previous season and was a 3 seed and in the Sweet 16 and people worry we won’t make the tournament? If the last 5 years can’t calm you I don’t know what will.

Losses:
Mark
Grant
Cliff
Youngblood
Reid
Mo
Jarin
Naas
Philon (Don't kid yourself he's gone)

What we're bringing in so far doesn't come close to replacing those losses. Being concerned about next season right now is just being realistic.

Reid’s mom/camp tried to tell the staff who they could and could not bring onto the roster. They didn’t want the staff to recruit Rylan back. The staff decided to just continue to do what they wanted to do and they came back and asked for even more money. The staff said no thanks.

The only spot I’m currently concerned about is PG. I think it’d be a bad idea to go into next year with Holloway and then makeshift people running the point. Not too concerned about 2-5 although I would like one more body for the 4.

None of this makes any sense. Why would they care? They don't play the same position. And I doubt Rylan is expensive enough as a 2nd time transfer to affect whatever money we were offering Reid. Also don't know why Rylan seems to be such a priority at the only position we don't actually need right now.

Key part is so far, I don’t believe we are done. I may be wrong in my optimism but Oats has earned my trust. We will see what happens.

In 5 years our worst team was a 6 seed. I think your faith is well warranted.

I have faith in Nate but even Saban had an off year or two after heavy roster attrition. And in basketball, with only 15 scholarship players, every loss cuts that much deeper. He’s going to have his work cut out for him without some serious portal work. We’ll make the tourney, but probably as a 5 or 6 seed is my guess. Start building towards 26.
