does seem to be his bread and butter in general. bediako is the craziest signing to me. to get him over duke, texas, juwans michigan, and so on. true we def dont have pearls bbq gig for the atlanta kids, but we did still get a georgia boy in holt so its good to see oats be able to put his fingerprints in that state as well when its necessary.

How are you feeling about y'all's team if Scoot goes G-league?
If he doesn't and reclassifies y'all are going to be really, really good.

I still really like what we’ve got. The backcourt is going to be really, really good. My only concern with the team is consistent scoring from the 1-3. I think Green will be a very good fit and solid facilitator. Jasper is a defensive guy. Sills and Flanigan are guys who are perfectly capable of going off in a game, but they are also just as likely to be ice cold.
If we could add one more guard that can score, I think team becomes much more balanced. I hate Powell left because a deadeye is the main thing we are missing. I think Scoot is gone but if we could snag someone like KD Johnson, I’d feel great about the team

Pearl knows how to identify kids who work in his system and play their arse off. Always has.
Smith/Kessler together is going to be a load.

Primo projected to be drafted 25th by the Nuggets. Doubt he’ll come back if he’s getting this kind of feedback LINK

I had a feeling Primo would be the kind of guy that would test well in these pre-draft things. If he truly can get drafted in the 1st round, can't be mad at him for leaving.
I think he could work his way into a Top 15/20 type pick, but it's hard to argue against a guaranteed roster spot and salary that a 1st round pick guarantees.

Oats needs to get in on KD real quick if Primo is leaving.

If a team picking late first gives him a guarantee he should probably take it. If he's getting good feedback but no guarantees he should probably come back. The difference between pick 27 and pick 33 in the NBA is like the difference between 2nd round and 5th round in the NFL.

Yep - the guaranteed vs non-guaranteed thing is about as big a cliff of a dividing line as exists in sports drafts.
I just can't imagine he's going to feel guaranteed to go in the 1st round. On the other hand, I could absolutely see a team with a really good roster be more than happy to draft a kid like him and stash him as their 8th bench guy and plan for him to work into rotation over the next 2 years. Basically look at it as getting a Top 10 pick 2 years in advance for a year when they may be rotating through older guys (like say, the Nets, Clippers, Lakers or Heat if they were that far back).
So, who knows.

Yep, if you're projecting late first then the only way you need to go is if a team is already telling you they're taking you.

That's kinda why I still expect him back. If someone picking in the mid-late 20s tells him they're taking him if he's available then by all means he should go get paid, but if his "grade" is late 1st and no one makes any commitment to drafting him in the late 1st he'd be rolling the dice in a big way. But like George said, it's also realistic that a team in an open window of contention could see him as a dude available at 28 this summer who may not even be available at 18 next year and draft him to stash on their bench for a couple of years.

Here is what Cecil said about Primo in his new article
quote:
Primo has always been considered an eventual NBA first-round choice, but many though his age (17) would give teams pause. But the NBA is not the NFL and teams are willing to overlook youth for potential. (Were it not for NFLPA restrictions, more NFL teams would roll the dice on teenagers, too.) Suddenly, Primo’s name has been climbing and first-round status seems likely with good reviews in the next four weeks.
The deadline for an early entry player to withdraw from the NBA Draft is Monday, July 19 at 4 p.m. CT. Primo does have an NCAA-certified agent and a path to return but if he and his agent feel strongly that a team has their mind made up, it would be hard to see him turning down a first-round slot.

Damn, I would hate to lose Primo but if he can get guaranteed money he has to go.
I just hate it because all of the great players have pretty much come and gone in the portal and Oats was actually turning kids in the portal away because we didn’t have room. I wonder if he would try and get someone from 2022 to reclass?

Where would you add depth, to guard or forward? We are pretty stacked at both.
We will be right at 13 players if Primo leaves.

Guard... add another sharp shooter.
Posted on 5/17/21 at 2:43 pm to CrimsonFever
I could be wrong but I dont think Primo will be a first round pick if he comes out, I think he would go 30-45 somewhere.
Posted on 5/17/21 at 2:43 pm to SummerOfGeorge
The SEC as a whole didn’t. We can’t come out next year and Fiddle frick around the first 7 or 8 games like we did Oats first 2 years. We got to throw up a 9-3 Non-Conf because we could very easily throw up a 10-8 or 11-7 in conference.
