Mallette is a little bit of revisionist history. He was going to redshirt before the season began. He didn’t play until after Wrightsell got hurt and that mainly due to Youngblood not being ready yet. If Wrightsell didn’t get injured, we would never have seen Mallette this year.

Yep. I think Mallette mostly played the 2 guard spot when he played too.

He was redshirting due to knee issues.

It’s tough but these kids have people advising them that aren’t attached to reality sometimes. However, I have trouble figuring out how Stevenson was dominating the minutes at 3 when Reid was healthy and Youngblood wasn’t.

Because Reid also wasn’t healthy and offers very little offensively.

I would love to have Reid back but from what I’ve read on different groups, I think he’s gone.

God I hate this BS. That fake rumor was originally started by Auburn fans and now it’s spread like wildfire.

FYI, he said he was coming back last night.

Wasn't he healthy in OOC?

Maybe you’re right, but from where I’ve gotten it was higher up basketball donors.

I’ve missed that. Can you link the article?

I guess I'm the only one but I'll say it.

Bring Jarin Steveson back. Had a rough tournament but he was solid the year before.

I still believe in him. He's in line for more opportunity with Grant leaving.
Continuity with the team.

I don't want to run off players who've help take our program to the best it's ever been.

I would like to have him back, but my assumption is that he'd like a fresh start. I definitely don't think Oats runs him off.

FWIW I just watched a post game interview with Reid after Duke. He told a reporter “we have to get ready for next year and I wouldn’t want to be with another group of guys”

Then spoke highly of Oats and turning Bama into a basketball powerhouse. Obviously things can change but that sounds a lot more promising than say…Latrell Wrightsell and his “we’ll see…business” type replies.

We'll have a good roster next year but the big question is whether they come together into a good team. The 2021-2022 team was a good roster albeit a bit thin up front however there was not a lack of good guards. Especially, in a weaker SEC, they ought to have been able to put a run together with their guard depth . That team just never really gave a damn. Some of the guys went on to be good players on the next squad but you could tell broadly that locker room wasn't playing for each other.

You just won't know 'til you know in that regard...

A pseudo-positive note from last night:

* Derrion Reid
* Aidan Sherrell
* Aden Holloway
* Mo Diabate

All asked about their futures.

All said the plan is to be back next year.

Add Wrightsell or Wooley (fingers crossed), and that's a solid starting lineup

Alabama basketball 2025-26 roster tracker

1. Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Gr.)
2. Houston Mallette (Gr.)
3. Aden Holloway (Jr.)
4. Mo Dioubate (Jr.)
5. Labaron Philon (So.)
6. Aiden Sherrell (So.)
7. Derrion Reid (So.)
8. Naas Cunningham (R-Fr.)
9. London Jemison (Fr.)
10. Davion Hannah (Fr.)
11. Amari Allen (Fr.)

Stevenson is not included in the roster.

Here is my most realistic roster construction based on the rumors and player comments thus far:

Starters:

PG - Holloway
SG - Bethea
SF - Reid
PF - Stevenson
C - Sherrell

The rest (in no particular order)

6 - Wrightsell
7 - Mo
8 - Mallette
9 - Wooley
10 - Bol Bowen
11 - Jemison
12 - Hannah
13 - Allen

Edit:
14 - Jacari Lane
15 - Noah Williamson

Only concern here is ball-handling. Between Wrightsell/Reid/Wooley/Bethea we'd need one or two of these guys to step up as the primary ball-handler when Holloway exits. Part of me wishes we would have only tied up 2 scholarships for HS kids so we could also add someone like Jacari Lane or Martin Somerville. Lamar Wilkerson or Treysen Eaglestaff (edit: lol that was short-lived) would also be interesting adds if we had the room.

Just a typo. Has a whole section on him earlier in the article.

I don’t know anything, but I wouldn’t put a lot of stock in what these kids said after the game last night. A lot will happen over the next few weeks.

Aren't they going to 15 scholarships next year? It would probably be very difficult to get that many quality players anyway, and there's no way to play that many, barring a catastrophic injury situation. But, I don't think scholarship limits will keep us from getting a player now.

A few notes regarding Alabama and a couple transfers:

- Bucknell transfer Noah Williamson is on campus. The 7-footer from Latvia is having a great visit thus far.

- Kennesaw State transfer Adrian Wooley will likely take an official visit to Alabama soon. He recently took an official visit to Louisville.

- FSU transfer Taylor Bol Bowen will be on campus for an official visit this week. he visited SMU and USC this weekend.

- Miami transfer Jalil Bethea is a priority for the Alabama coaching staff and has the Crimson Tide as a finalist to land his commitment.

- LSU transfer Corey Chest will be on campus for an official visit on Monday. He recently visited Texas A&M.

What are your thoughts on Alabama’s efforts in the transfer portal thus far?

Not sure who runs the Crimson Coverage account, but they do a pretty solid job of consolidating all the transfer intel out there.

Corey Chest is an interesting guy if one of Stevenson/Dioubate leave. Would fill that glue guy role well.

I can't see how he fits, but if the coaches want him, whatever.
