while watching the game their fans were loud and proud and yelled at the refs on every foul that went against ARK. Replay would then show it to be a legitimate foul where with the body or hitting the arm or hand. Gotta love it. I think for the most part they were fair in calling the game. It didnt take much to get a foul in the paint. Our bigs need to learn how to use their arm length to block a shot instead of using their body against a body.

Brandon Miller just coast thru games because he can score in BUNCHES. He doesn't have to overdo it and that's what I like about him. I'm pretty sure Coach Oats knew Muss would try to take Brandon away by face guarding him but Coach Oats had already countered because he felt like JB could score easily in PnR situations. Bradley didn't shoot it well though but Coach Oats had the matchup he wanted without having to use David Diaz.
When we ran plays for Brandon shoot it turned deadly.
Just imagine running plays for him in the first half.

There is no overdoing it when you’re the caliber of shot maker that he is. I wish he would demand the ball a lot more. Could be averaging well over 20 ppg

Am I crazy for thinking Sears is our most important player even over Miller?

Yeah but why not use a weapon like that with more frequency?
I mean as impressive as it was do you want Pringle or Miller taking key 3’s down the stretch?

Miller is the best player, Sears is the most important.
He can score in key situations in many different ways without any help and seems to thrive in those situations.
The only PG I’d take over him in recent Bama history is Sexton.

Because teams face guard him and don’t let him get the ball. I mean these are college athletes on the other side too.
And everybody else on our team is plenty capable also so why force it?

I don’t think there is anyone else as capable as Miller on the team and so if you are going to run sets to create shots and they aren’t doubling him my sets are going to be to get him looks and involved earlier is my point.

I think the beauty of this team right now is you could argue this for multiple players. In my opinion, most nights I think Clowney is the most important guy to have out on the floor. He’s solid defensively, great at rebounding, and he helps space the floor so much offensively. It seems like at times when he goes out we struggle on both ends.

Yes, exactly, and all of those pieces is what makes this team what it is.
Which leads to the thing that nobody has brought up when discussing our chances at winning a title or going to a Final Four that could disrupt everything and I'm not even going to say the word because that might encourage it and nope nope not gonna happen.

Arkansas made their last run last night when he picked up his 4th foul and had to leave the floor. Miller, Sears, and Clowney is a fricking trio.

This is why I think we're better this season than we were a couple of years ago. That team was basically a collection of high level role players who coalesced into a great overall team. This team is a collection of star players who all have glue guy mentalities.

That’s a very bad excuse. Miller has about 8 inches on Davis. Should have been an easy seal in the post and layup every time. That’s the first thing NBA wings do when they get a guard switched on them.

Also - the offensive sets we've run this year in key situations............my gawd. That set we ran for Clowney out of the timeout to get the corner 3.

Miller isn't a back to the basket seal a guy on his hip kind of player. We're also not a 1 on 1 back a guy down kind of offense.
They defender us a certain way in the first half that took Miller out of the game (which is something Muss is known for and as good as anyone in the sport at doing). We adjusted to that at halftime and put up 51 pts and Miller scored 14 while opening the floor for other guys to get consistent looks.

The play we ran after the barrage of 3s where Chuck got the putback dunk was a fricking beauty.

Sure he is. 8 inches taller. Should be very easy for him to catch and shoot right over Davis. He’s not the first skinny guy to ever play basketball.

Catch and shoot where? On the block? Out at 17 feet? Again, we don't run an offense where we have guys standing on the block or 17 feet out posting up and clearing out a whole side of the floor. That isn't how we play.
I can't remember more than 4-5 times the entire season where a guy caught a pass inside the 3 pt line with his back to a defender.

It always cracks me up when I see people take shots at us for having a gimmicky offense, living and dying by the 3, running basic sets, playing playground ball, etc.
I mean yeah sometimes we do just play 5 out and let a guard ISO, but we also run a lot of really sophisticated sets that not many teams are capable of pulling off. I question what those people are watching and whether they have ever actually played organized basketball.

We don’t have to run that offense. I’m not asking Oats to run a 90s style ISO post up offense. It’s not too much to ask a 6’9 superstar wing to seal a 6’1 guard 2 or 3 times a game for easy layups.
Miller did that a couple times earlier in the season and it was very effective. I don’t understand why we went away from it.
