You're right but thankfully we have an AD who doesn't have his head up his azz. He'll do what he can but he also has his list. It only took him 4 days to hire Oats while most folks thought we were going after Steve Prohm and Thad Matta.

Oats would leave for UK if they break the bank and he's willing to deal with their nonsense

I think he will end up getting a call if Cal leaves, but just see him waiting for MSU or Michigan when available. Like Joka said though, Oats may like what he's building here, and if the admin throws the money and resources at him, he may stay long term.

Few would consider UK. I'm the same person who said Tommy Loyd is an ideal candidate. Home is home but so is making sure your family is secured. Zags have at least one capable assistant who can take over.

UK would be smart to give Frank Vogel a look, he's won in the NBA and is an alum. Also only 49.

Vogel is from New Jersey. That's not the Midwest.

I just don't see the pull of the Michigan schools. Folks are leaving that state in droves. This isn't the 1920s.

I know, it's 2nd to Midwest but he coached in Indiana. Plus he's German descent and those folks are efficient.

I don’t think Oats would take the UK job. Why? NIL is the main thing these days and we have more than UK to offer in that area.

I’m not gonna be worried about Oats leaving unless Izzo or Boeheim retires

Same, he is from Wisonsin, not Nichigan. He has ties with Mich State and Izzo due to coaching HS basketball an hour away from East Lansing and going to their practices all the time. He and Izzo have a mutual respect and like each other of course, but I think Mich State hires an Izzo assistant or a former Izzo player when he retires.

If thats true then why does Kentucky have the top Bball recruiting class coming in? Guess who is second in recruiting? Duke.

Despite NIL that blue blood name still matters a lot in recruiting.

Fever if you don’t think NIL is the clear cut #1 thing in recruiting then you are extremely naive.

UK decided to spend out the arse on this class where we spent on last years class

Alabama and Georgia are finishing 1 and 2 in football recruiting and Kentucky and Duke finishing 1 and 2 in bball should prove to you that NIL isn't the main thing.

How you guys feeling about the Arkansas game? KenPom has them favored by 1.

I think we win unless they shoot 43 foul shots to our 8, which as we have seen before can happen when we play there.

Sadly, with a road game at Arkansas, it's quite possible.

They beat a good Missouri team at home the other day and they're coming off a loss on the road. Playing a rival and #4 in the nation at home, they will be ready I think. Hopefully, we play lights out.

Seems to be right on schedule.

Sucks that he's probably going to miss the Mizzou game by about a week. Could really use his defense up there.

That logo is great. I wish we’d embrace our retro logos.

Some more quotes from Oats about a new arena.

quote:

“It’s a big deal,” Oats said. “You look at some of the places we go and they’ve got a real nice arena and ours is a little behind. But I’ve said in the past, it really affects the fans a lot more than it affects us. The floor we play on is just as good as any floor in the SEC. They’re all pretty similar. Our situation with our practice gym, our locker room and all that stuff, that’s all top-notch. We’re great there. It’s not like that’s hurting us in recruiting or the ability to win games.

“But I do think just for the program, the university, the athletic department, it’s a big deal to have a great arena for fans to come watch. I do think getting a home environment – now, when you pack this place with 15,000 like Kentucky was Saturday, that’s a great home environment. But we need to have a great home environment every single game, and I think with a new arena, I think we can get a lot closer to that. So I think it’s a big deal in the future.

“Greg Byrne and the board of trustees and President Bell, they’re working on it. They’re trying to get us to where we can get it. I think they were close and ready to go until inflation obviously hit building costs quite a bit. They’re trying to figure some more stuff out at this point.”

Thinking about taking the fam over to T-town Saturday for the LSU game. Haven't been to Coleman in probably 10 years. Any sections to avoid? Don't want to spend a ton but cheapest tickets are in section Z and the other corners.
