Nick Smith Jr is "out indefinitely" with a knee injury.

As much as everyone ragged on UNC, they’re probably gonna end up being a Quad 1 win for us

Auburn has PJ Carlisemo calling thier game. His voice annoys the shite out of me

Or great news if they're looking to change conferences.

Lucky for Arkansas that “indefinitely” generally means “2-3 days before Alabama shows up on the schedule” so he should only be out a couple of weeks

I don't know what Bruce was thinking with that OOC schedule. They had to go undefeated to have a decent resumé going into conference play. 55 in NET is not where you want to be at Christmas.

Liberty NET is 75. Q2 win for now

I would ask this in the recruiting thread but this thread gets a lot more traffic.
What method do you think is better, getting top recruits out of HS or top players out of the portal?
I would say that teams like Baylor, Texas Tech when Beard was there, have had more success winning with good players out of the portal lately than say Duke , Kentucky or UNC have had with top High school recruits.
You can obviously win either way if you get good players and most good teams have a combination of good players they've recruited out of HS and good transfers.

High school players are a lot more affordable. The top transfers garner funds that we couldn’t/didn’t want to match this past year.

It's not really what you asked but the ideal scenario is a blend of both. There will be some years that we're going to be in the mix with top high school players in the country (like last year's) and sometimes you're just going to land players that will need development but can be big-time contributors down the road (this year's class). Then using the portal to plug in any immediate needs/holes. Now if a big-time transfer hits the portal and we're going after him then go for it but our current resources can only stretch so far. We're always going to need a blend of talented experience, talented freshmen, and then guys that will be in our system for 3-4 years.

Was Miller's 36 points against the Zags a freshman record?

I think it was more of a case of not wanting to pay that much instead of not being able to. We weren't as desperate as some other teams since we had a great class coming in.
We did sign Sears who most people had as a top 15 transfer.

Oats said we were lucky on Sears in that he was a local kid who wanted to come home to represent UA. It wasn’t the typical high level transfer just searching for NIL deals.

True. I think Welch was the same way in that he was looking for a good fit more than top dollar, although I think we might have given Welch a pretty good NIL deal since he drives a 50k dollar SUV.Maybe he had money before coming here though idk.

I think Miller obviously got hooked up on NIL since it came down to professional options or us and he chose us. We must've at least matched whatever he was gonna get from Ignite, Overtime Elite, overseas ect.
Arizona offered Bradley a lot too from what I heard and he signed with us, so I assume he had a pretty good deal too.

I guarantee Saban doesn’t have to let anyone know how much he takes out of the collective to give to a recruit and I guarantee Oats has to get whatever’s he wants to give a recruit approved by someone

I'm sure that's true.
I don't think we are giving a lot of huge NIL to sign football recruits, maybe I am naive. Seems like Saban's pitch is "come here and play well and the huge NIL deals will follow since we are arguably the top/most recognizable college football program." I am sure we are offering good Nil packages to football recruits but I don't think we are out here offering millions of dollars for them to come here like some other schools are doing.
With our record of getting players drafted high, I think that's more of a draw to a smart player than taking a huge NIL deal now to go to a certain college.
