Idk Joka….it makes no sense!!

He is entering the portal after this season 100% so the redshirt is pointless for us.

Look at his likes on twitter!! It’s liking stuff questioning why he isn’t playing!!

Yeah that’s what never understood. A redshirt this day and age is practically useless. With the portal, a kid is gone if he doesn’t see the floor. Might as well put him out there see what he’s got.

I was more impressed with his defense more than anything.

He has Herb Jones capabilities.

I have no clue.

I think Crimson said he was having trouble with concepts and that he was RAW but earlier in camp I think he was the best freshman until he got dinged up.

I think we should play him. I don't see how it hurts.

I think that's what Oats is selling Parker on - that it's a "losing the redshirt" issue. When really he just doesn't think he's ready to play or that his style of play isn't conformed to how we want to play. If Oats believed there was any way he thought that Parker could help them this year, I am certain he'd have already played him. The red shirt talk is probably more of a retention play for Oats than it is a real reason he isn't playing.

You can't judge everything from short highlights of 1-2 minutes during practice.
We may be overestimating him because he doesn't actually play.

Well he was playing up until he got hurt!

But I know you can't judge everything from practice.

@blakebyler

Alabama’s leading 3-point shooters this season:

Sam Walters - 50%
Mark Sears - 44.4%
Latrell Wrightsell - 41%
Davin Cosby - 39.3%
Aaron Estrada - 38.9%
Rylan Griffen - 38.6%

We’ve got a lot of guys shooting great. Wrightsell needs to shoot more.

Blake is lying, Fever. I was distinctly told that Sears was the only “shooter” and that Griffin was definitely not while Estrada was a “scorer” not a shooter.

Ok, I’ll stop now. It would just be helpful if people would own their bad takes (like my original prediction that this defense would still be top 50…going to take a WHOLE LOT of cold SEC shooting to make that not a terrible take), rather than doubling and tripling down on them despite the facts that clearly say otherwise.

You smart boys LOVE you some stats. It's easy to drain shots at home against teams you can fatten up said stats on but I am going to burst all your bubbles here and now.

If we were shooting at that clip WHY are we 7-5and it isn't all defense.

Alabama vs Clemson at home a scorching 34.3% from the field and 31.4% producing 77 points in a loss.

Alabama'Ohio State at Destin..46.4% from the field but only 30% (9-30) from 3...where da shooters? 81 point L.

Arizona...my God...33.8% from the field and a thermonuclear 20% even from three (8-40) producing 74 points. Big fat breakdown.

We got a lot of guys shooting great...against chumps.

To be fair there are exceptions...Purdue was a good game.

45.3 from the field and 41.3 from 3 in a game with a tremendous free throw discrepancy that saved the Boilers.

But this team is NOT consistent...I stand by everything I said.

Sears is NOT the only shooter I never said that. Sam Walters is a shooter and I raised Cain about him not getting more shots in the Arizona game. If you are going to be an arrogant swine at least be an accurate arrogant swine.

We have the number 1 offense in the country and have played one of the hardest schedules, that’s saying something. Offense isn’t our problem.

Our 94th ranked defense is the reason we are losing some of these games vs top teams.

At this point the defense is probably what it is going to be. I have never faulted their effort but this is just not going to be a good defensive team. The better teams are going to score.

So we have to score. Figure out each players role and go. IMO you don't want Grant Nelson jacking up threes like he did at Arizona, for example. Those shots should go to others.

Defense is not the cause of defeat. The biggest problem is the offense.

Bama's core personnel this season are not players with defensive strengths. All players who came through transfers have strengths in offense, not defense. Mostly they are seniors. Because they are players who have played primarily on offense rather than defense for several years, their defensive abilities cannot be upgraded significantly in a short period of time. Of course, your defensive ability can increase to some extent, but rather, you need to think about ways to maximize your strengths. If you lose 80 points, you have to think of a way to gain 90 points.
As a result, if you can't defend, you have to be good at offense. However, we have a lot of ups and downs on offense against high major teams. You can tell by looking at the stats I wrote. I'm not saying you have to have a huge shooting percentage like you did against a mid-major team.
High-major teams have better team defense than mid-major teams, so they need to find ways to do better on offense.

What?

Have you been watching us the last 5 years? When we are good Offense doesn’t determine whether we win or lose it just determines the margin of victory. Defense is what wins and loses us games

There hasn't been a single roster change in the last five years?
There were a lot of roster changes this season. I wouldn't have said this if they had brought in players who could continue the team plan, but this season, players were brought in who have different strengths from the basketball that Bama has played so far.
Because each player has different strengths and weaknesses, you cannot keep the same team plan every time.
Past records are really important data, but they are for reference only.

This might be the most ludacris take I’ve seen in here so far this season.

Did I say something wrong?
Did I tell you not to play defense?
He said that it was difficult for the newly recruited players to develop defense in a short period of time because they were not good at defense to begin with and were players with strengths in offense. This is because they are seniors and have been playing offense instead of defense for a long time.
So then, isn't it right to focus on offense?
You are drunk on past glories.
If you want to play the same basketball every time, you need to recruit players with the same strengths. But this season, we recruited players with different strengths than in the past, right? But why do we want to play the same basketball as before?
After recruiting players like Trae Young and Enes Kanter, you have to play good defense. Can they play good defense?
This is a level of basketball that I don’t understand.

I'm not saying you shouldn't play defense, but I'm saying you should be more effective on offense. If we had played better defense, we could have won against a high-major team, but to put it another way, if we had had a better shooting percentage, we could have beaten a high-major team.
