You would be hard pressed to find a better restaurant in Birmingham

I can name at least a half dozen that are better, and I say that loving The Bright Star. It's not as good as Highlands Bar & Grill, Chez Fon Fon, Bottega, Ollie Irene, Satterfield's, GianMarco's, and a few others.

I'm not gonna hate on you because you don't love Alabama. Different strokes for different folks.

But I will share a few things I've learned.

First, once you get your 10 and financial security, make your move. Life's too short not to enjoy it. Don't wait for the "perfect" opportunity. Jump on a reasonable/good/decent opportunity and then work to make it better.

Second, I've lived in a range of places, small town deep South, urban metro, coastal, suburban, and out in the country. Every single place I've lived, I've run into "I hate it here" type of people. In my experience, one can enjoy living almost anywhere with a good attitude and finding a good group of friends.

Many of the ""I hate it here" people did not find the happiness/enjoyment they expected even after moving on to what they thought were greener pastures.

Bottom line, each one of us should create our own happiness rather than search for it in another person or another setting.

You're a wise fella! It usually takes a person most of his life to figure this out, and only then if he'd actually lived in a number of different places. It took me most of my adult life (and I'm 71) to learn this, but you're obviously smarter than me!
