Bob Sykes Barbeque and the Bright Star just about covers it.

Yeah, but I think the only place in the state I would really be ok with living near is Birmingham. I don't like to hunt or fish, don't like country music, don't want to live in the country, Huntsville's too small, don't want to worry about hurricanes near the coast.
If I were to move further north of Birmingham, I'd rather just keep going until I reach Nashville.
I could honestly leave the state for good and be more than fine with never coming back.

If I did not live in Tuscaloosa, I would be in the LA area around Dothan, Nashville or Northeast Atlanta

You start to appreciate things about the state and its lifestyle after you leave. Birmingham is a great place to live and raise kids. Don't think I would care to live anywhere else in Alabama.
Won't be an issue for me. My wife is from Los Angeles and refuses to consider it.

I don't plan to ever have any kids, so "great place to have kids" is never a consideration.

You seem like a miserable guy. Living in Prattville will do that to a person I guess.

my wife's family lives in bessemer, I guess technically it's kind of the border of bessemer and hueytown. I go visit once every couple months probably. I love their little neighborhood they live in (the whole family lives in the same neighborhood) but...there's not that much around there besides that ha. Bright star is always a treat though, damn good eating.

Maybe to a lot of people. I find them costly, time consuming, loud, annoying, too much of a responsibility, tiring, etc.

I mostly come on here to debate. If I agree with the majority, I'm likely to remain silent.

Why do you stay in Alabama? Serious question. If I was so indifferent or hated it I would leave.

Only about a year away from getting 10 years in with the state. I'm probably going to look into job opportunities in at least the San Diego or Seattle areas once I get to 10. Will try to transfer to Birmingham at the very least.
Also wanted to build up some money before attempting a move. I've only been serious about wanting to move for about 4 years.

If you never had kids, I'm not sure how you can be so certain about all of these things.
I would admit that you're right about some of it, but some folks that think similarly about children totally change their minds about it when they later do have children.
That said, teenagers often suck.

I find that most people who say this are losers who don’t have a girlfriend anyway. I’m 29 with no kids and don’t plan on having any soon, if ever, but I definitely don’t have that attitude about it lol

Trying to convince someone that doesn't want to have kids that they should indeed have a kid is the height of human arrogance. I mean, nowhere did you criticize anyone's choice to have kids, but that hasn't stopped them from criticizing your choice, and the reasons for your choice.
