2. That said: not that I matter even a little bit (I'm less than a fraction of a drop in the ocean), but I'm on board. I would willingly accept a pair of 6-6 seasons to get rid of the rot.
I see many people saying that there is some kind of huge culture problem. A toxic locker room. Do we have any real evidence that there is some kind of "rot" within our team? I'm not saying y'all are wrong per se, but isn't possible that the problem this season is pretty simple: we have a QB who shite the bed every other game this season, and can't run the offense properly? Sure, there were was Moore's tantrum, but it seemed isolated. I'm just someone who wants so real proof before I start going to grand speculation.
I guess the question then would be why hasn't Milroe gotten beaten out by any of the other QBs on our roster? Is it because they thought they could overcome his deficiencies and his athleticism as a running QB was just too effective to go in a different direction, and the other guys just aren't quite good enough to beat him out?
Its kind of hard to really point out a viable moment during this season where they really could have benched him. He wasn't nearly bad enough in the Vandy game to bench. His performance in the UT game was bad enough to bench, and I'm not so sure that he wasn't on a short leash in the LSU game, but he absolutely dominated LSU from the get go, so obviously can't bench him after that. But we have gotten to the point where if they trot him out against AU, and he looks like he did against Oklahoma, I don't know how DeBoer could make any other decision but to bench him.
just thinking out loud here.

My concern is it would dissuade DeBoer from doing what needs to be done. And give Milroe some PR ammunition.

would it be the worst-case scenario, even if it means a win over the Barn, for Milroe to be in his manic phase rather than his depressive phase as a QB and have another LSU-game performance on Saturday?
dude, whatever it takes to beat the shite out of Auburn, that is the right answer.
But to your point, if you want Milroe to go pro after this season, you want him light it up the next 2 games.

I personally don't care if he goes pro or not. I want him gone. Period. Even if he wanted to come back, I would let it be known that he is the Scout team QB and has ZERO shot of ever taking another snap as the QB at Bama.

Gus probably working the back channels for #4 already.

I bet he’d do good in a weaker conference. He does good against the teams that suck. Not a lot of those in the SEC.

Simple
Don't offer any NIL cash and he is gone. Beside it will take his fund to pay Williams.

One would think the people who put up the NIL money, and who are looking for positive publicity for the endeavors that put that money in their bank accounts as well as to support the Tide, would not want to be associated with a damaged brand.

It is hard to even consider Bama would pay any player 2 million bucks and I mean anybody.
If Bama paid all 85 scholly players 5K per month that is a little over 5 million bucks per year for that roster.

So how do we continue to compete in an era where high school quarterbacks are getting $10.5 million or $12 million or whatever it was?

so many left, yet they couldn't play at lesser schools.
The transfer rules have changed the quality of player that BAMA is losing.
These are quality players (*has not played), just off the top of my head from last 2-3 seasons
WR
Javon Baker
Treshon Holden
Jacory Brooks
Isaiah Bond
QB
Eli Holstein
*Julian Sayin
OL
Damien George
Seth McGlaughlin (was having a good 2024 until he tore his AH)
LB
Drew Sanders
DB
Trey Amos
Caleb Downs
I will agree that we have had our fair share of busts in recruiting over the years (meaning players who rarely/ ever saw the field). In my recollection they have been most glaring on both lines of scrimmage. I also believe the staff turnover was/ is a factor there too (especially OL/DL).
But BAMA wasn’t losing that amount of contributors before the current transfer rules were in place. That has to be fixed and is a bigger factor over NIL right now..
ETA: A player can cycle in and out of a program in 12 months right now. That is insane. Football requires some form of commitment to even look competent.

I mean we have the #3 overall player from high school committed right now so we must be doing something competitive.
