I just wish the MBD would play Les Miserables on 4th down again rather than Nysnc.

I totally agree. It’s a product of our times where people have to be entertained constantly. Their eyes and ears must be stimulated and their attention kept. Can’t just sit in the moment and enjoy it.

Best I can remember I went to my first game at Denny Stadium in 1971, before Bryant’s name was attached (of course also many games at Legion Field). My last one at BDS was vs LSU in 2021. The difference is stark. From a scoreboard with incandescent light bulbs to Jumbotrons and piped music and light shows. Not sure we’re ever going back. I guess we’re old farts now.

I mean you're old if you were going to games in 1971, but I was in school at UA just over 5 years ago and I hate this too

I hate when they start piping in music after we turn the ball over or have a terrible play. Please, just let me sit here and bitch and be mad for a little bit.

Yes this. The entire experience is now centered around the ADHD crowd I guess, nothing can ever be digested or discussed. It's always on to the next immediate stimuli. They are trying so hard to keep the mood upbeat and party int he stadium it's numbing and often times completely ignores the actual football game people are there to see.

My last home game was in 2019. I don't know how it is now, but at that time they were doing this thing where all hell breaks loose after a first down. The band was playing, the PA was announcing "first down Alabama," prompting everyone to yell Roll Tide, the cheerleaders were doing the "R-O-L-L T-I-D-E" chant, and the loudspeakers were blasting Blur's Song 2 (the "Woohoo" song). All this was happening at once after almost every first down.

I don't like complaining too much, because the rest of in-game experience in the stadium is light years better than it was during my undergrad days of the mid 2000s and my kid days of the 1990s.

I do miss hearing and mouthing the words to all the songs on this CD, though.

I totally agree with the in-person experience the past few years. It just got to be too much for me. Gave up our long-standing season tickets this year. The noise, the lights, not hearing the band, and the disgusting long lines in the concourse blocking my way to the bathroom was just too much!!! LOL. I too am apparently an old fart. College freshman in 1971!!! The difference between those years and now is like night and day!!!
