The good:

We won.

The offense settled down as the game wore on. I blame most of this on execution and of course Grubb's west coast pussy football cutsie calls in the first half although even those weren't as bad as previous games.

Rico Scott has arrived. He's reaching the potential we all knew he had and it couldn't come at a better time. Also a shout out to Lotty (avg 24 yds a catch) with some clutch catches.

The TE group continues to shine. Also, just as a brief mention that empty set we ran on that one play was sexy as hell. That will eventually lead to some monster runs by Keelon.

The defense refuses to let this team lose. As frustrated as I get at the inconsistency with fundamental tackling and lack of adjustments to the runs up the middle they bail out the struggling offense time and time again. Multiple players stepped up. The new kids on the block on the DL, Metz and Woodson, and props to D. Lee after another bone headed penalty. He showed why you just about are forced to keep him on the field.

The bad:

Slow offenseive starts continue to be the millstone around our neck. I almost wish our first possession would start in two minute so Grubb wouldn't call his Fresno St faggotry that isn't fooling ANYBODY in the SEC. We cannot blame it all on Grubb though. Execution is STILL a big problem. We cannot hold the ball as long as Keelon holds it, sometimes a 3 yd scramble is perfectly fine.

Run game was no show again. Some of it is situational play calling, some of it is wrong back in at wrong time, some of it is lack of execution. Hill seemed to be back to running like he weighs 175 and not 235. They were all over Trae yesterday. Riley had one nice run. Dear must have slept with DeBoer's daughter because for all the hype he had pre season he's been non existent.

Still some missed tackles and poor angles on Defense. Coverage still struggling but due to the Dre suspension and Brown injury along with Red's ejection that's certainly understandable. Oneil and McDonald made some plays.but inexperience is still showing.

The ugly:

Injuries. They will be our eventual Waterloo as they continue to pile up. We miss RCW and Delgatty's leadership on the field as well as Green's run stopping in the middle. EJ is sorely missed on Offense as his touches were finally starting to increase.

Play calling. It fricking sucks. There's not much more to say about that. Grubb just doesn't understand the speed of SEC football. He isn't going to out smart or out finesse ANY frickING BODY in the SEC.

Keelon Russell, yes he threw for over 300 but the fact that this is only his 8th game is glaring. Do not get me wrong. He's our guy and it's ride or die with him because he's going to be a superstar once he figures it out. West Coast Grubb doesn't help him much, he seems to never have a hot route and why the hell do we send all of the receivers to the same 30yd area of the field. This is just patently stupid.

He actually wasn't that bad. This is why I question how fans watch these games.

A lot of that was Keelon still mentally stuck in that UGA game. Keelon was blowing easy reads on RPO and even in the pass game. Grubb was trying so many things to just make it a simple one-read throw (look at the two TDs thrown late).

What helped a little was Keelon kind of started being more himself again.

We really needed thia bye week. We are destroyed on both lines and skill positions.. it ain't easy. However last week what Grubb called made things worse.

This kind of makes my point of frustration with Grubb. I don't think he does enough early in the game to let Keelon get some confidence. Give the man some screens, a wheel route and a couple of called QB runs.

If Keelon has time, we get some big plays out of that.

Mostly he doesn’t. Teams know he needs 3 seconds to wait for it to develop so they just blitz one to force him to move or take a sack.

Considering how good he can be on short quick throws i cannot for the life of me understand why you don’t do 2 or 3 of those THEN go over the top.

With a check down somewhere

Agree with this. It drives me absolutely crazy that you can usually see the blitz coming from a mile away and there is little or no adjustment in the play. No hot route, no rolling out away from the pass rush, and all our receivers running 30-40 yard routes.

I don't know if that's on Grubb or Keelon or maybe the receivers. Maybe a combination? Teams have noticed this and will continue to come with a blitz over and over and over until Grubb figures this out. As soon as that is addressed, the offense will rack up huge yardage.

I think part of Keelon's problem is much like Ty last year late in the season, he doesn't trust his offensive line to provide protection. I suspect he thinks he's going to get leveled at any moment by some 300 lb dude.

To be fair, this offensive line is better than last year but that's not saying much. Last year's line was maybe the worst I've ever seen as a Bama fan going on 50 years. Still, I'll take whatever improvement I can get.

We DESPERATELY needed this bye week. We need to get as many guys back as possible, especially RCW, Terrence Green, Delgattie and Desmond Umeozulu..

There's nothing about this guy that screams superstar.

Well that’s slightly unfair. When he is able to execute and has time he is usually pretty sharp. Grubb is typically Bipolar he doesn’t give him the easy get going plays. When teams have success against our OL he doesn’t help either. Russell has made some damn good plays on street ball. I think he will fine. Grubb needs to keep things simple and then open up the playbook, not the other way around.

Regarding injuries, whatever happened to Noah Rogers? With RCW out the last couple of games I had hoped that Rogers could step up and fill some of the void but I don't recall seeing him on the field and he only has three catches all year. Is he injured?
