3. They’re not picking specific offensive linemen, which is counter to what NIL means...

Is it? Does the NCAA even define what the scope of NIL means? I think establishing a blanket, no questions asked "fee" for all offensive linemen at Texas is blatantly an inducement, but shutting it down will just delay the inevitable. Texas boosters will just coincidentally sign all of their OLinemen to big NIL deals and after a couple of years all the recruits will come to understand that even if there are no official guarantees they will definitely get paid big money to go to Texas.

I have read on some boards that the NCAA is reviewing some of the goings on with NIL, including at Texas. The courts ruled that college athletes can market their name, image, and likeness, but the NCAA still will have authority over booster involvement. Few of us like the NCAA, but it was formed because the member institutions realized there had to be some agreement and regulations. When there is no NCAA anymore there will still have to be some sort of organization to monitor things.

This is going to take a good long time to sort out. In the meantime I'm pretty sure than Alabama will play the game same as everybody else will.

I don't know - but Milo's is giving Bo Pix a bunch. And Ukulele from Clemson is getting paid by D. Pepper. Companies are basically... stupid

My problem with what we're seeing with Texas isn't that they're getting big NIL deals. The problem is that these companies in Texas that support UT Athletics are saying, "IF you come HERE, we will give you this big NIL deal." DJ Uiagalelei's deal wasn't tied to him being at Clemson. In this case, these potential NIL deals, like the one for offensive linemen who go to Texas, are directly tied the player choosing Texas.

I don't see how it is that far off from a booster saying, "If you come to our favorite school, we'll write you a big check."

Austin, in particular, is full of far left socialists. Hell, they don't even like football.
