In retrospect that's about as accurate as that Vandy guy saying Bama was next. Nothing but empty words from everyone in this program, or nothing at all like from Byrne. To be honest though, I'm not sure Byrne should say anything right now. The next words out of his mouth should be "We have decided to find new leadership for our football program".

Anyone else think it’s just idiotic to name captains before the season? Not sure why DeBoer thinks that is a good idea. It prevents people from stepping up and it makes it tougher to discipline or bench players. Not to go all “Saban did it this way” but Saban is probably the greatest at all time at fostering leadership and he thought it was best to name them after the season so players have a chance to earn it. It’s not even exclusive to Saban.
You’d think DeBoer would try to take a page from that but no. The culture shock in the football building over the last two years has got to be something else.

After 1 game the idea that Germie Bernard wasn't worth being captain seems insane. Lawson being a captain looks laughable too. He was captain last year. The only guy on defense I'd say should be captain 1 game in would be Zavien Brown.

This is what ultimately pissed me off the most about last week. How do you say this line repeatedly all summer and then lay an egg against the guy talking shite about you?
The players did the same thing last year. I can't remember who it was after the Vandy loss that said "I feel sorry for who we play next." Bro, you just lost to Vandy. Stop all the shite talk and go to work. The prime Saban teams NEVER talked shite before or during a game.
