OK, football. Some have suggested that the NC loss wasn't as bad as it seemed. Some have suggested that Saban overreacted. I think Saban was embarrassed and all his moves are justified. Now, who has seen this:
LINK
It has CNS's first press conference as Bama HC. In it he sets the tone for the program. I have the feeling he has and is going to do the same thing year early and often: set the tone for a renewed Bama. I'm looking forward to hearing from those close(r) to the program about the preparations for the new season: what's the attitude and atmosphere around the program?!?

I am not sure that college football had ever seen anything like HCNS before. Sure there had been winning programs, but nothing like the machine that Saban unleashed at Alabama.
I remember a line he used in last year's ESPN special on Alabama... "Everyone wants what we have!!!" Look the HC at Uga, USCe, aTm, Oregon, 10RC, and the DC at AU. They all come here and hire for their programs and they install what we have; what will make the difference is that WE will execute what we do better. We have to!!!
And that is true, as more and more programs hire HC's and gut the Bama program of coaches and support staff every year, it takes the Process and expands the knowledge throughout CF. The only thing that will create a separation is the execution. The programs that execute will be the most successful.
I cannot imagine the pressure to win year after year for such an extended period; never getting to sit back have a drink and a cigar and just bask in the success. BUT, it has been a great run and even as we see the threats to the dynasty, (CU, UGA, aTm, 10RC, UF, OU).... Trust in Saban and pray for his good health for years to come. Never has CF seen the likes and most likely never will again.

OL Alabama Spring Position Preview: Offensive line
Excerpts from Charlie Potter's series on 247

quote:

WHO’S COMING BACK? Jedrick Wills, Alex Leatherwood, Deonte Brown, Matt Womack, Chris Owens, Emil Ekiyor, Scott Lashley, Tommy Brown, Kendall Randolph, Hunter Brannon Wills and Leatherwood started all 15 games at right guard and right tackle, respectively, a year ago. ...could we see Leatherwood move back to left tackle where he replaced the Williams in the 2018 national title game? It’s a possibility. Other than those two, Alabama also has some returning players with first-team experience. Brown started five games at left guard last year, but he was suspended for the playoff by the NCAA and his eligibility for the upcoming season is still unclear. So, he’s up in the air. Womack also has starting experience having manned the right tackle position two years ago. He could play at either tackle or guard this spring to set up a return to the starting five. That leaves one -- or two positions, and Owens and Ekiyor received high praise from Pierschbacher during his media availability in Mobile, Ala. How the offensive line shakes out will be a top storyline. WHO’S COMING IN? Evan Neal, Pierce Quick, Amari Kight, Darrian Dalcourt, Tanner Bowles All five of the offensive linemen the Tide signed in the 2019 recruiting cycle are already on campus as five of the team’s 15 early enrollees. Quick has been in town the longest, practicing with the team prior to the College Football Playoff. It will be interesting to see if any of the young players push the veterans for playing time, especially Neal, who weighed in at 6-foot-7, 360.

... Offensive line - Continued
Excerpts from Charlie Potter's 247 article
quote:

WHO COULD STEP UP? Matt Womack, Chris Owens, Emil Ekiyor Just like last year, Wills and Leatherwood will start. Brown should fill one of the guard positions, though we don’t know his eligibility situation right now. With that in mind, players like Womack -- who has starting experience -- Owens and Ekiyor could be in position to compete for starting spots along the offensive line. At the Reese’s Senior Bowl in late January, Pierschbacher gave predictions that that trio would start alongside Wills and Leatherwood if Brown is suspended.

I believe that everyone is ready to see Neal in Spring Game to see if the hype is well founded and what he will weigh. Also, after the all star game in Orlando, Cole C. was raving about SFA Guard Dalcourt indicating he was ready to plug and play. With maybe the best OL class Bama has ever signed, Spring practice will be very exciting to say the least, especially with the probability that Womack will graduate after this season and Wills and Leatherwood could declare (most likely Wills at least).

Alabama Spring Position Preview: Defensive line
Excerpts from Charlie Potter's Series on 247
quote:

WHO’S COMING BACK? Raekwon Davis, LaBryan Ray, Phidarian Mathis, Stephon Wynn, Tevita Musika, Christian Barmore Davis is the lone returning defensive line starter after he chose to not declare for the draft and returned to Tuscaloosa for one more year. It was a smart decision on his part because Davis didn’t have the kind of year many expected after a stellar 2017 campaign. He’ll have a chance to improve his game while also improving his draft stock in 2019. Outside of him, though, Alabama has a couple of players that were key reserves last year that seem poised to step into bigger roles this offseason in Ray and Mathis. The two finished fourth and fifth in tackles, respectively.

The Tide will also need inexperienced guys like Wynn and Barmore to take that next step in their second years in college. Wynn played in enough games that he could redshirt (4) while Barmore didn’t see the field at all. Their development will be key in the coming months. WHO’S COMING IN? Antonio Alfano, Justin Eboigbe, DJ Dale Alabama was in a similar position last year after Daron Payne and Da'Shawn Hand left the team. The main difference between 2018 and 2019, however, is the number of new players UA has joining the program. The defensive line was a top priority during the 2019 recruiting cycle, and Nick Saban and company went out and signed twice as many players, including the No. 1 strongside defensive end in the nation in Alfano. He is one of 15 early enrollees, along with Eboigbe and Dale, and they will provide the Tide with some much-needed depth this spring. Alabama also signed Ishmael Sopsher, Byron Young and Braylen Ingraham in its top-ranked 2019 class, but all three players aren’t on campus yet and will enroll at UA this summer.

...Defensive Line....Continued
Excerpts from Charlie Potter's series on 247
quote:

WHO COULD STEP UP? LaBryan Ray, Phidarian Mathis, Christian Barmore
Davis will man one of the starting spots, and if what we saw last year is a preview of 2019, then Ray and Mathis are the leaders in the clubhouse to join the 6-foot-7 defensive lineman in the starting lineup. Mathis will have some big shoes to fill, though, as Williams was unbelievable in 2018. Another player to watch is Barmore, who shined on the practice field as a scout-team star. That’s how Williams got the coaches’ attention early on in his career before his breakout season. With players leaving and young guys taking on key roles, it is imperative that the above trio, as well as, a few others perform well in the spring and carve out roles for the upcoming campaign.

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) is located in Colorado Springs. It's been a while since I've been there. How are things in Alabama after the tornado? It was all over the news here in Holland.

Alabama Spring Position Preview: Inside, outside linebacker
Excerpts from Charlie Potter's series in 247
quote:

WHO’S COMING BACK? ILB: Dylan Moses, Joshua McMillon, Markail Benton, Ale Kaho, Jaylen Moody Moses is the most experienced inside linebacker returning to Tuscaloosa. He’s also the only one that has any starting experience. His development as a leader and quarterback of the defense will be imperative to Alabama’s success in 2019. But the biggest question for the inside ‘backers will be who starts alongside Moses. McMillon has seen first-team snaps in emergency situations and will be a fifth-year senior, but can he hold off some of the youngsters like Kaho and Benton?

OLB: Anfernee Jennings, Terrell Lewis, Christopher Allen, Eyabi Anoma, Ben Davis, Cameron Latu, Jarez Parks

Though Miller and Mosley aren’t coming back, the Crimson Tide will have plenty of talent off the edge. It starts with Jennings, who has plenty of starting experience under his belt. Unlike the inside linebackers, though, there aren’t as many questions when it comes to the other expected starter. That should be Lewis, who was sidelined by an ACL injury all of last season. There are also a couple of young players -- Allen and Anoma -- that can provide quality depth for the Tide.

Inside and Outside LB's ..Continued....
from Charlie Potter's series on 247

quote:

WHO’S COMING IN?

ILB: Shane Lee

OLB: Kevin Harris

Alabama has two freshman linebackers on campus this spring as early enrollees in Lee and Harris. Lee, a Maryland native, is listed at 6-foot, 248 pounds, so he should blend in with the older players on Day 1 of spring practice Friday. Listed at 6-foot-4, 218 pounds, Harris will be a bit leaner but like Lee, should provide depth at the outside linebacker position. The Crimson Tide will have two more linebackers enrolling this summer in Christian Harris and King Mwikuta.

WHO COULD STEP UP?

ILB: Joshua McMillon, Ale Kaho

Moses needs a running mate to man the defense in 2018. To me, the top two candidates for that position are McMillon, the veteran, and Kaho, the promising youngster. Like it was already said, McMillon has been a player Nick Saban and company have relied on in emergency cases in the past and shouldn’t be a player that fans overlook this spring. Kaho joined the program during fall camp last year and then played on every special teams unit as a true freshman. Other guys like Benton or Moody could also step up, but entering spring, I think McMillon and Kaho lead the pack.

OLB: Eyabi Anoma

We’ve seen what Lewis and Allen can do as reserves, and they’ll be asked to do more in 2019. But because they are moving up the pecking order, Alabama will need others to step up in their place. Anoma will likely round out the Tide’s two-deep at outside linebacker, and if Saban and Pete Golding choose to use more outside ‘backers, Anoma could benefit from that. As a true freshman last year, the former 5-star saw a few reps as a reserve. After entering and exiting the NCAA transfer portal this offseason, could he see his role expand with a couple of players leaving?

There isn't much football info coming out right now, I'm not sure why folks are getting pissed off. Spring football hasn't even started. Maybe once that hit's we'll actually have football to discuss.

There's plenty of football to talk about and Cobra's given plenty of stuff to talk about, but perhaps it's that people are just craving for news at this point (of which there isn't a whole lot).

But let's give it a shot by asking three questions:
1. How certain is it that Tua will turn pro after this season?
2. Will Mac Jones be ready to step in this time if Tua gets hurt? Jones seemed to do better than Hurts at last year's A game, looked awful in his snaps vs LSU and didn't seem to benefit much from Enos' presence.
3. Will the new O-line be able to protect Tua?

If you would have asked me this 10 games into last season I would have said yes. He showed some kinks though and it will depend on how he responds. Sometimes guys need their hat size readjusted to get them back on track
