Jalen's didnt seem to work out that well? He seemed to be hardly able to walk in the weeks after, as witnessed as he was escorted on the field in pre-game activities.
Tua had it also a bit later in the season and it didn't slow him much at all. Several Oline have had it in the past most notable Cam Robinson (sprained in Tenn game and was able to play 2 weeks later against LSU). Seems Dom Jackson also had this procedure and oddly enough I seem to remember his was in the UTenn game and he was also able to return to play against LSU

I’d amost prefer Wills have the surgery since he has so much time to recover. As I understand it, the surgery basically makes that ankle virtually impossible to sprain again.

Seem to recall the reason given why Dan Enos wasn't considered for OC was Saban didn't want to go more pro style.

Same, have to think its more west coast principles than pro-style principles.

Not just that but, more pro style still isn’t pro style. More quick throws from shotgun, etc.

I’m pretty sure Enos would have been OC had he stayed. It was his choice to leave. Evidently he wasn’t wild about the time Saban expects of his staff
Sagan? Not wild about posting on a phone

That’s right. It’s a hard road of hard work to be the best. It’s no secret Saban is a slave driver.

LINK ]ALABAMA Alabama football: Predicting rushing totals for Tide's star-studded backfield - Saturday Down South by Marq Burnett
quote:
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Throughout spring practice, Alabama coach Nick Saban has spoken about the Crimson Tide getting back to the Bama way.
What exactly does that mean, you ask? It’s probably along the lines of “making their asses quit,” one of Saban’s early mantras in Tuscaloosa.
Saban wants Alabama to return to the days of when opponents were defeated before they took the field. That starts with a physical running game and a vaunted defense.
Alabama still has record-breaking quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and all four of its top receivers back in Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs III and Jaylen Waddle. But under (somewhat) new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, could we see Alabama get back to a more power-run game based offensive attack that lets the passing game build off play-action?
Here we’ll take a look at what can be expected of Alabama’s top two running backs: juniors Najee Harris and Brian Robinson.
Is this Najee’s year?
After two years of waiting behind the likes of Bo Scarbrough, Damien Harris and Josh Jacobs, the time has finally come for Najee Harris to be Alabama’s RB1.
From a pure talent standpoint, Harris has what it takes to be the best of Saban’s tenure at Alabama. He’s big (6-2, 227) and physical. He can run through, around and past defenders. He’s strong enough to stiff arm and athletic enough to hurdle a tackler. He can catch the ball out of the backfield. Harris has it all.
He ran for 783 yards last season and 4 TDs last year, averaging a team-best 6.7 yards per touch. His career average is 6.5 yards per carry.
If Alabama wanted to give him the ball 20-25 times a game or more, he has the ability to post Heisman Trophy-type numbers. Question is, will Harris get the amount of touches he needs? And if not, can be efficient with his carries to put up big numbers on a low amount of touches? Expect Harris to have a big year before making the leap to the NFL after this season. He has a chance to be one of the top running backs in college football this year.

LINK ]ALABAMA Alabama football: Predicting rushing totals for Tide's star-studded backfield - Saturday Down South by Marq Burnett...Continued...
No mention of Jerome Ford or C.Townsend, or Next Year's Heisman Trophy winner Trey Sanders... If Bama stays true to Bama, I can see at least 4 if not 5 RB's getting PT and lots of garbage time carries by Ford/Townsend/Sanders...(don't believe K.Robinson will get cleared to play this season unless the knee surgery was just a clean-up procedure)
quote:
Why we shouldn’t sleep on Brian Robinson
Najee Harris gets a lot of fanfare and rightfully so, but we can’t forget about his running mate Brian Robinson. Robinson (6-1, 226) is built to be a feature running back. He’s extremely physical and runs behind his pads to deliver punishment to defenders.
His was fourth in line last year, getting just 63 carries for 272 yards, but he’s now a key part of the rotation.
With the way Alabama has allowed its running backs to split carries over the years, Robinson should get his fair share of carries this year. If Alabama’s offensive line is able to hold up, Robinson could have a monster year. The key for Robinson will be doing things like catching the ball out of the backfield and holding up in pass protection. If Robinson can do that, he has a chance to turn a lot of heads this season as he works to emerge from Harris’ shadow.
Look for Robinson to have a breakout season this year.
Prediction rushing totals for the duo
This is tough because we just don’t know what the offense is going to look like next season under Sarkisian. But if we have to put a total on it, this will be the first time Alabama has two running backs go over 1,000 yards in the same season since 2012.
Look for Harris to get anywhere from 1,250-1,400 yards and for Robinson to come in between the 1,000-1,100 mark. This duo is as talented as any that Alabama has had during Saban’s tenure, so those totals don’t feel far-fetched.

LINK ]Defensive lineman DJ Dale making his name known early
TideSports.Com - By Ben Stansell - April 9, 2019
TideSports.Com - By Ben Stansell - April 9, 2019
quote:
Defensive lineman DJ Dale has only been campus for a few months, but the early enrollee has already made his presence known.
After Alabama’s second spring scrimmage last Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium, UA coach Nick Saban mentioned the former 4-star from Pinson earned playing time with the first-team line.
“DJ is playing some with the ones at nose,” Saban said.
It was a never a question of whether Dale would have the size – he’s listed at 6-foot-3, 314 pounds – or ability to contribute early. It was a matter of whether he would be able to learn the position and play with confidence in competitive scenarios quick enough.
Well, Dale has apparently impressed Saban with both his athleticism and readiness.
“He’s got good initial quickness, good power, strikes,” Saban said. “(He) seems to be pretty conscientious, shows a little maturity about being able to go out there and do his job.”
Dale is one of eight defensive linemen the Crimson Tide signed in the 2019 class. He’s one of four already on campus and going through spring practice, which concludes Saturday with Alabama’s A-Day game in Bryant-Denny Stadium at 1 p.m. (ESPN2). He may have made the greatest strides out of the four, but Saban sees potential in each of the early enrollees.
The problem for these other players, though, has been translating that ability into production on the field.
“I think when they get in a competitive situation, they completely just dumb down,” Saban said. “They can’t focus. They’re supposed to slant, they don’t slant. So, it’s really — you can see the talent, you can see the ability, but they’ve got to develop confidence when they hear a call that this is what I do and trust in that and believe in that. And right now in practice, it’s starting to happen. But the next step is we’ve got to get it in a competition situation.”

PODCAST: What to watch for at A-Day 2019
Ben Jones, Cecil Hurt and Terrin Waack sit down to discuss spring practice and the 2019 A-Day game. They discuss Nick Saban’s comments about underclassmen who choose to come out for the NFL draft and Ronnie Harrison’s reaction in the first half of the podcast. In the second half, they discuss what to watch for at Bryant-Denny Stadium during the scrimmage, including which freshman have turned heads in spring ball.
0:00 to 14:10 - Ronnie Harrison and Nick Saban's comments about early outs
14:49 - Big Picture -What do they want to work on Defensively and also Offensively (last year seems to revolve around development of the passing game)
16:09 - Offensive Line combinations
19:00 - how do the centers play? and how does Leatherwood do at LT
19:47 - Who will be the tight ends
20:10 - How high have the true freshmen risen on the depth chart..(DEPTH CHART?, We dont have no Blinking Depth Chart)
20:50 - Jalen Armour-Davis? what has his progress been along with the other freshmen
23:20 - Kicking game Will Reichart (which parts will he play? - Kicker/Punter?) Bulovas and DeLong ..
Just my opinion; but, I may not listen to another of these Bama Beat Podcasts. Was hoping for more meat, more inside info, more of 'what I saw' 'what I heard' 'what I was told'. I came away thinking, that was 9 minutes I can't get back. Listen as you will, let me know what you think. I have never listen to Bama Beat before... and as I said, may not ever listen again
