In the end the inability to convince or train Tua to get rid of the ball was his and Bamas undoing. Tua simply never learned that you could win a down with a good throw away.

He’s a bit like Brett Favre with his confidence and competitiveness. When you have a guy like that, you’re going to get some great plays but you’re also going to get head scratchers.

And they almost got run down by a terrible spread offense in the process

We have a generational talent QB, it would be stupid to have him handing it off 40 times a game.

I agree with you there. I am thinking Georgia will win that game by controlling the clock and smash mouth football. Fromm is a good QB too. He will have a great game against LSU defense. Hell if Ole Miss can score on them, you better believe Georgia can score that much.

I suspect it's going to be the opposite. We're probably all going to remember why Saban felt he had to update our offense after trying to keep up with scoring against other talented teams that had switched to these high octane offenses.

I’m very interested to see the SEC championship game.. it will tell a lot about smash mouth vs spread. We will see if controlling the clock with a strong D can still have its place and if it was abandon too soon. I honestly have no idea.. I feel the spread will eat them up.. but I could be wrong

lack of rushing yards from the QB position. It's a vital piece of the spread offense and controlling the ball and clock.
In fairness to Tua, I'm sure he was instructed to really back off the QB runs this season.

This is a great point, and really cant be stressed enough.

Those plays were there several times vs LSU, but Tua couldn't do it. Burrows runs very well could have been the difference. That 3rd and 10 QB draw was the ballsiest most back breaking play of the game if not their RB dragging Diggs down the field 6 yards on the next 3rd and 10. :puke:

And I've got news for everyone... Bryce Young is 5'10-11ish 180 pounds so - here's to another 3 years of holding our breath every play.

disagree Georgia runs pro-style and they are doing just fine

Just fine being defined as losing to unranked teama and losing title games to teams with similar talent but more dynamic offenses but ending up with good records because they are in the SEC east.

The rules today heavily favor spread the field offenses. As long as that is the case you don’t have much chance for sustained long term success without one. Now that Mullen is at UF it is just a matter of time before Kirby either adapts or watches Florida pass him by.

I agree. I still think that fundamental of run / ball control with play action passing and typical bama D is a championship formula.

Summer of George may have the stats to prove otherwise but under...AJ we didn't score as much but Bamas offensive efficiency was really good (12 plays) and the point diff was high
High percentage plays and owned the 4th

Then again...put JAllen Rueben Foster Marlon Humphry and Tim Williams on this team and ...Bama can do what ever they want on offense

Yeah I agree but let’s be honest do you see that happening soon ? I don’t we have lost anoma and Alfano if you lose guys like this over time it shows and it’s showing on defense. I know we have young next year and a couple of good running backs coming in next year but if we don’t get better on defense and hire a better defensive coordinator we will suffer big time next year. I’m not melting and saying we won’t win some games but we won’t win the ones that matter the most till we get better on defense and I think it’s that simple.

Yeah but this defense hasn’t been bad because they’re tired. I’m hoping it’s youth because we need Golding and the entire coaching staff to stick around so we can get some cohesion. If the defense doesn’t improve vastly next year it’s either coaching or Bama missed on a lot of defensive prospects.

LSU is going to arse rape Georgia and Bowl cut. Nobody on that field can cover Chase. Georgia will get some scores because LSU's defense is weak too and UGA has decent balance, but their WR room is weak with 1 stud and a bunch of possession guys. LSU will get more stops than UGA will.

LSU 41
UGA 24
