The fact that Auburn beat Oregon could also be huge for us. Auburn might be the reason we make the playoffs this season

I hate Auburn with a passion, but I will always pull for what helps Bama most. Hope they beat the leg-humpers from Athens.

To the OP: who in their right mind on this board isn't?

I HATE, HATE, HATE the Barn, but the enemy of my enemy is my friend and Auburn can do us a solid this weekend by beating Kirby and the Dogs asses Saturday. Which is exactly why it probably won't happen.

I honestly don't think it really matters if they beat jawja. We just have to beat them convincingly. If they beat UGA then obviously us beating them looks more impressive but then Oregon's loss also looks more forgivable. Conversely if they lose to UGA us beating them loses a little luster but so then does Oregon's loss to them look a little worse. The important thing is just beating the team that Oregon lost to.

AU beats UGA they'll go into the Iron Bowl with 9 wins.
If we win the game it'll be the 1st time we've beaten a 9 wins or more AU team since 94.

Well we need that win over a 9 win ranked Auburn. I don’t think we impress anyone by beating an 8-3 Auburn whose only quality win is a fluke gift from Oregon. We’ve got to have something to show the committee and right now we don’t have it.

I have lived in Georgia most of my life and most of my friends are UGA fans. Counter to what some say, I don't find UGA fans to be as arrogant as Auburn fans, and not near as retarded as Rant LSU fans. I'll go with UGA vs Auburn and LSU, assuming they meet in the SEC title game.

edit to say that I don't think Auburn beating UGA is more likely to put us in the playoffs as long as we beat Auburn soundly, and UGA beats Auburn and LSU. Honestly, I kind of doubt we'll be in the playoffs this year in near any event, and with this defense, I doubt we'd win it all even if we did make it in.

Maybe I'm missing the obvious or just being dense here, but what exactly is the reasoning for the majority of you pulling for auburn? I certainly understand that any win you have (and you'll absolutely crush auburn I'm sure) that looks better is better for you. But at this point I don't really see how AU having 9 wins instead of 8 really helps you any. The biggest thing for alabama is all the other conferences at this point; what you really need is for the leaders of the other P5 conferences to start dropping games. If all those guys continue holding serve it wouldn't matter if AU had 11 wins or 1 win.

Little bit of reverse thinking here. Just imagine...you're a Auburn fan who knows that by winning you're helping Bama ;)

If they beat the current no.4 team, AU would be ranked firmly in the top 10 when we play them. A 4 loss AU team would be no.20 at the highest. We need all the help we can get.

Don't fret, it's not the first time a dawg fan missed the obvious. Bama needs all the browny points it can get. That alone justifies crossing over to the dark side.

Next, eliminate any SEC #2 team to make the playoffs, not named Alabama. That, unfortunately, would be you, dawg fan. Lose to the barners and whether you beat LSU or not it's over for the eastside of town.

In that you asked, let me further state as Captain Obvious that we want total football chaos this November and it starts with the Black and Red team down on the Plains.

You're still missing my main point that if all else holds serve (the pac 12, big 12, big 10, and acc having 0-1 loss champions) there isn't going to be a 2nd SEC team anyway, regardless of who it may be. It would take multiple conferences having 2 loss champions for a 2nd SEC team to even enter the discussion, much less be a front runner in it. The only prayer bama has at making the playoffs entirely relies on other conferences, not whether AU beats UGA.

It’s a slim chance but it would matter if it came down to a one loss Oregon/Utah, OU, or even Clemson. Bama most likely wouldn’t get over any of them expect a one loss Clemson team but there’s a chance.

That's what they said in 2011 and chaos reigned down hard enough for the Tide to rise.

Chaos was the order of the day when LSU won it all with 2 losses in 2007.

Bama fans are more than happy to take our chaos anyway we get it. Besides, I have no personal qualms about starting with Kirby's bunch.

We need all the help we can get.

One of which is an actual top victory which Auburn beating Georgia Saturday would mean for Alabama because it would give us a top 10 team away from home as an impressive victory.

A top 10 team who would have beaten two top 10 teams amd only lost to the #1 team and another top 10 team (Florida).... both of which beat Auburn AT HOME.

We need a quality win. We also need a data point that will keep us over Oregon. Our only chance at that is Auburn. Auburn needs to beat UGA...

... and then we need to beat the ever-loving hell out of Auburn.

Simple as that.
Yep.
